Losing Strength (possible spoiler)

Post by Lunan »

I notice, after a battle, when I try to carry items back to cash them in, I can't carry as much weight as I previously could. Some how I've lost strength and I don't know how or how to get it back or how to prevent the loss in the first place. I was at 612, I'm now at 466. What is happening? I'm still wearing the same equipment and all attributes show normal. I know it's going to be a spoiler but I would, at this point, like to know how to at prevent it from deteriorating even further. Better yet, if possible, how to get the strength back to 612. Thanks for your help

The only way to get your strength up that high to begin with is to take advantage of bugs within the game, or to use console command cheats. That being the case, Morrowind doesn't provide any means to raise your strength again if it somehow drops to so far over the maximum--you'll have to use the same methods you initially did to get it, to get it back. Try here for a good series of console commands.

I think he's talking about encumbrance.

Have you fought any bone walkers?

Except 612 isn't divisible by 5! I suspect Fable's right and he/she has been either cheating or exploiting the Corprus glitch.

Loss of Strength - Not cheating

Maybe my memory is not correct and it was not as high as 612, but it was over 600 at one time. I remember because I used to be able to carry the loot back to sell.

The numbers I'm asking about are directly overhead when you right click on the mouse. There are usually two numbers that look like 000/000. I could be fighting bone crushers. I've never paid any attention who I'm fighting, mostly because it's kind of hard to remember the objective is to drain the swamp when I'm up to my rear end in alligators.

BTW - I have no idea how to cheat in this game. I know it has something to do with the consul but I don't know where it is or how to access it. Not that computer savvy.

So how do I get my strength or endurance or encumbrance or what ever it is - back? And how do I keep losing it? TIA

If your carrying capacity is 600, as opposed to your strength, then that makes more sense. That would place your strenght at 120, easily attainable by wearing enchanted items that boost strength.

If your strength is boosted by using items then you have fallen foul of a glitch in the game. Due to poor programming if you get zapped by an attribute draining attack, then restoring that attribute wont work if you're wearing anything that boosts that attribute. The solution is to remove all attribute boosting items, then restore, either by spell or by visiting a Tribunal Shrine (one of those gold faced pylons you get in temples and some Ancestral Tombs) and getting an Almsivi Restoration.

It's advisable to remove all boosting items periodically to check that your attributes are in good health. You can buy restore attribute spells in Temples (there's a guy upstairs in the Balmora temple that sells them), you only have to buy one of them, you can then get a full set made by a spellmaker. I usually make a spell that restores 2 points to all atributes for 2 seconds. It's cheap and doesn't require a lot of skill in restoration to cast.

Apologies for any confusion, but 600+ strength is an insane amount, only achievable by grossly abusing the Corprus glitch, or by cheating with the console. Even enchanting every item with fortify strength can't get you much above 300.

Loss of Strength

Thanks for your help.

With Right and Left Fist of Randagulf Gauntlets, my “carrying capacity” is back up to 600 again. The Almsivi Restoration did the trick.

I don’t have a clue how to get a spell maker to make new spells like restore attributes.

How did I lose the carrying capacity?

Quite likely greater Bonewalkers, they drain strength.

In the Balmora temple buy a restore attribute spell, Restore Strength say. Talk to either the Altmer lady in the Mages gild, or one of the ladies in the temple basement. They can make spells for you for a small fee.
