Unofficial Patch 5.9 released!

Post by Wesp5 »

The latest unofficial patch version 5.9 can be found as usually at Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines : Patches, Updates, Addons, Downloads (The Patches Scrolls)

This time I tried to restore the censored decapitation scene, thanks to files provided by Keleigh, but it seems on my systems I now sometimes see the scene and sometimes I don't. This might be a timing issue, so I would be glad to get feedback on who can see it and who can't. Besides other changes and bugfixes some more subtitles have been added, most noteable for Grout's tapes, thanks to Voerman! The complete changelog is as below:

v5.9 18.12.2008
----
+Made player heal before Blood Hunt and repaired bad CD quest update.
+Added Heather remembrance lines and fixed Gary poster quest issues.
+Made Isaac recognize the Tzimisce defeat for non-Toreador clans too.
+Added ring and watch to pawnshop and fixed two Copper log problems.
+Made damage by fire more consistent for Andrei and Sheriff warforms.
+Fixed quest log updates for Ash, Romero and Heather on their death.
Fitted Cathayan report dates to morgue pc dates and fixed bum quest.
Corrected Milligan not leaving cutscene and improved anti-cheating.
Fixed beastform model and added slash sound to Heather's last scene.
Corrected Gimble and Nines Obfuscate issues and minor text details.
Fixed minor dialogue problems of Heather, Knox, Skelter and Beckett.
Added subtitles for cutscenes and conversations, thanks to Voerman.
Restored some Ocean House and beachhouse lines and Chunk-Asylum fix.
Corrected basic healing rate and added one sound to Muddy cutscene.
Removed xp for Romero loving after zombie quest but made him return.
Fixed Vandal endgame freeze and wrong door sound at the Ramen shop.
Made Chastity not biteable and fixed Sin Bin handle and area change.
Swapped Igor's .38 with GLOCK 19 and gave more hit points to Larry.
Replaced money in Kamikaze Zen safe by name plate to fix xp problem.
Exchanged Brawl and Finance book locations inside the Empire hotel.
Swapped dancers between clubs to avoid too many similar ones nearby.
Gave GLOCKs to hunters in Ash sewers to fit gun shown on the model.
Restored the uncensored US decapitation cutscene, thanks to Keleigh.

I found a bug: Bertram's email for the missing data quest does not appear. It's not a big problem though because I can still get the quest when I go and talk to him.

EDIT: Gary's poster quest still doesn't update correctly. Now it updates, but the updates are mixed up for example when I get the email requesting the photo the quest log says Gary needs the swimsuit shoot tape etc.

Oops, it was still Nosferatu only with the plus patch. I fixed that for 6.0!

You are right again and again I fixed that for 6.0. Thanks for the feedback!

Another bug: the quest log doesn't update when I kill Shu, only when I use dominate or dementation on him or scare him as a Nosferatu.

That's actually intended. You get a special log update when you tell Ox about it.

Do you mean during the endgame or before?

Game stopping bug: I made a save in the tutorial after the Sabbat attacked, made the jump up where you find the lock picks, talked to jack, he tells me to head into the office. Made a save. Quit and then (later) reloaded my game, when I load the save and try to head to the office, I get the pop-up about reading your quest log and Jack saying stay away from the windows. Then I am unable to move. No keys work. Nothing works. I cannot continue at all.

Do I need to re-start my game?

2nd game breaking bug: I gave up and re-started. Now when you get the mission to shoot a .38 YOU CANNOT CONTINUE because you don't receive the .38.

I used to be a big fan of your patches but man, you are breaking things so bad now. Do you even test these patches?

Is there a patch that Is somewhat stable I can download? That doesn't include game stopping bugs?

Sorry, but maybe you shouldn't save every few minutes and then restart the game already in the tutorial. That part of the game hasn't been changed since November and many people managed to play through it since then. I just tested it myself and got the .38. Of course it now has it's real-world name, so maybe this was confusing you?

You know I remember that saving in the tutorial could sometime cause problems So I'll just avoid saving in it at all.

Anyways, I re-loaded my save and I *did* get the gun (I'm not sure what happened)? Anyways I'm continuing on.

Sorry for the confusion.

Not sure if this is your patch related, but at the beach house, you cannot turn the power back on, if you turned it off?

There is indeed a quest log for reaching Mings sanctum, but I can't find where the update is triggered and I don't remember removing it either. Are you sure you saw this once? Anyway, I restored it for 6.0!

As for the beachhouse light, you are not able to turn it on again as this would break all the scripts started by that action of yours ;) .

In the Necromantic Quest, after talking to Pisha, the Business card for Milligan is not showing up at all.

Or was this intended?

One other frustrating thing (Though if no one else is having this problem... maybe I just have a horribly bad install. Maybe one of my CD's is bad?).

When taking the taxi to a location, when I enter the location, I INSTANTLY hear my character equip a weapon and then begin to attack. Sometimes a human NPC is near by and I kill them instantly causing a masquerade violation. I have to constantly re-load and re-load until I CAN enter the area without killing anyone.

In all my 4 re-playthroughs of this game that has never happened to me before. Is this a known engine bug?

It shows up on my system.

No. Maybe you do have some corrupted files somewhere...

All right, I have tried many re-loads and the card just does not show up.

That is what I am starting to suspect. I'm going to try a new install and start a new game (I'm not that far).

One question, WHY did you change this:

Made Chastity not biteable

Since that is the only way to finish this quest "quietly" (as far as I know), did you add another way to finish this quietly?

Chastify was made not biteable because killing her by feeding is just too easy and even Gimble, who is no hunter, is not biteable. As for killing her quietly, you just need to get Kerri into the other room as intended by this quest.

I was finishing the B-Rated Writer quest and noticed you now lock the beach house fence? I wanted to try hacking the computer now that I have a high hacking skill. Why would you lock this?

Also, I failed to read in your read-me that you lowered the hacking requirement on the beach house computer, and well should have tried hacking it earlier.

I am a bit baffled why you would lock this?
