By patching, does that mean going to Bethesda and installing the updated version?
Start Menu> All Programs > Bethesda> Morrowind > Uninstall
That's all there is to it, the disc doesn't even need to be in your drive

After I uninstalled Marrowind, the icons for Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon and the Construction Set are still on the Desktop. Do I just delete them, leave themthere, or should they have gone away with the uninstall?
They don't matter. When you reinstall they'll be overwritten.
Now all you need to do is reinstall in this order.
Morrowind
Tribunal
Bloodmoon
