Can I continue core game after Shivering Isles?
I've finished Shivering Isles. I wonder is ther a way I can just leave the Isles and carry on with the main Oblivion game? I know I will lose some abilities, but I want to retain my level. How do I do it?

You don't actually lose levels. Some of the godly equipment that is given to you becomes non-functional outside of the Shivering Isles domain though.
[Edit:] strike that, I thought you said levels instead of abilities. Sorry. I have no idea, it would involve modding I guess. You might want to check if someone has already made that mod

Thanks Tricky...
How then, do I export my character? Or can't I?
What I'm getting at is, is Shivered Isles (and Knights of the Nine come to that) a stand-alone game that cannot transfer my character? For instance, in Icewind Dale, I could export my characters and use them in expansion games. Can I do that with Oblivion?

You can use the same character throughout. It's simply an added area to the game and you just take your character there, no worries, no fuss
Unlike the Black Isle games, you don't go through an import process or anything with the expansions, Oblivion is like it's predecessor, Morrowind, in that respect

I think you can go back through the initial area where first you entered the world? I'm having a hard time remembering that myself.

SPOLIERS! Maybe....
Hello, Pauls.Spilsbury!
Uh, also, now that you are Sheogorath, the Sheogorath Daedric Shrine Quest has changed to reflect that. Cute, if you've done it before without being Sheogorath before, you can appreciate the ironic humor of it!
Note, that the other quest, "Whom Gods Annoy", is not affected though.
Also, I've discovered a lone Orc, guarding another "lost Sheogorath Shrine", closer to the mountains. He has a named imp with him. Typically, by the time I get there, they are involved in combat with animals, bandits, or whatever happened to pass by. I've yet to learn if this "new shrine" is meant for my Sheogorath or is it just a coincidence. Or is it even a mod I forgot about?

Shhh! Be very quiet! I may be sleep writing and sleep reading!
