I find that if your going to have multiple dms they shouldn't also play in that game. I find that most not all of course but most people cant help but metagame

Ah, metagaming is only caused by exchanging vital information to your version of the game to the new DM's version. That can easily be avoided, most of which involves shredding up NPC's aside from names.

If you want your world and story to have a bit of consistency, all DM should at least be aware of the basics of the plot. If not, you end up playing several independant games.

Hmm... Perhaps writing the main plot/quest and allowing the other DMs to make sidequests along the main plotline would work?

Might work, but sidequests still need to be tied in with the mainquest somehow.
