Hello! I have a dumb question to ask about the game. I don't know how to get to the Temple Ruins area or how to unlock it! How?!? First of all, one of my characters requires some form of aid and I am NEEDED in the Temple Ruins. I will not continue my adventure without first doing this. By the way, I searched everywhere and could not find out how to get in there. Obviously it's so OBVIOUS that I just can't find it! Any help would be extremely appreciated as this is a huge speed bump on my very first (but fast) run through the game. (Played the game when I was much younger and got stuck in the first area).
I played BG1 for the first time when I was a VERY young child. Frankly, after just picking up BG1 & BG2 and zipping through both in just days, I have discovered that "Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn" may be the best game ever created on this planet. I stand by that wholeheartedly and I am one hardcore gamer. PS3, WII, XBOX360 and EVERY system before them. PC isn't really my thing, but I was definitely there for the big games (starcraft, baldur's gate).
Anyways, I feel terrible now because this game has turned my other games straight into DUST! I can't even look at any other game without feeling absolute, instantaneous boredom... What Black Isle did to the gaming industry - Creating a whole new style of gameplay that opened me up to the D&D universe (never enjoyed pen and paper D&D, played it when I was 9-10). Seriously, this style of RPG is just UNBEATABLE. It's pen and paper meets actuality in the form of mouse-clicking madness! I have never enjoyed a game more, never been so intrigued by a story, never have my eyes glistened the way that they do when I look upon the art style of Faerun. Playing Baldur's Gate1/2, plus NWN1/2 and Icewind Dale1/2, I have been stricken with gaming euphoria. Right after I bought Final Fantasy 7 on PSN, I move straight to Baldur's Gate and forget all about that piece of JRPG sh...oot.
I honestly hope you guys enjoyed this game as much as I have as it is by far the NUMBER ONE game of ALL time and may still be for decades to come. Hopefully game designers will one day transition back into making games of this gameplay, art, story, depth, style, but until then, I'm going to keep playing this. (I never knew this game had an expansion before, so I'm definitely getting that within the month).
PS: I'm a fantasy writer in training. My very first novel is finished and I'm in the process of saving up for this publisher that LOVES my story.
Oh yeah, one last thing, how in the NINE HELLS to I get into that freakin' TEMPLE RUINS area?!? Thanks.
Old Player, NEW Question!!!
Go to the Government District and talk to a kid called Delon, he will put the Umar Hills on your world map. Go to Umar Hills, listen to Mayor Lloyd's speach, then enter his house and talk to him. Follow his quest to "Investigate the Deaths in Umar Hills". Eventually you'll find a book and a note that will put the Temple Ruins on your map.
