Totaly confused...where to go

Ok, after I discovered the WHOLE "Eastern Swamp" (including water sections) I found that the only way seems to be that cave under the big tree. There's a big, round hall with an elevator......is this the right way, the way that leeds me to the "Temple Ruins" and to "Fortress Kroth"? This is wiry, why isn't there a REAL map like in Baldurs Gate or Diablo 2???

Make sure all your chars stand on the round thing and turn the wheel, actually leave your mule behind until you've made sure the other end of the elevator ride is safe

That's not what I wanted to know, but thanks! I wanted to know, if this is the rigth way to "Fortress Kroth". I've allready discovered--> it is the right way!!!!!!
