Transmute

Post by Krynus »

Does anyone know where I can find a Transmute spell in Single Player? I am up to the Crystal Caverns (the caves you get to about 10 minutes after leaving the Ice Caves), and have not yet found one either in a shop or as loot. Unfortunately, I didn't look in Stonebridge for one when I had a chance, but I am way to far away to go back there now. Did I miss my chance?

They're all over the place. The mage in the first city you encounter should have plenty of 'em for sale.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I've looked in every shop since leaving Stonebridge, and haven't found one...

Make sure when you're browsing through the merchant's spells, that you look for additional pages (next button). I found Transmute in Stonebridge, but it was on the second page of spells, even though the first page wasn't filled.

I know to press the next button, but it's a little too late to go back to Stonebridge now... :)

I found the spell very early but I didn't see it for sale until the Dwarven Mining village.

In my opinion, it is a worthless spell. It only gives you (I think) 10% of its selling price or less. Others may think it is better than nothing. Time is precious to my game play. I did it couple of time after few, I drop the spell. There are better to keep. :D

I just came out of Fortress Kroth and I have STILL not found it anywhere!!! :) But since I've got 3 packmules, I don't really need it anymore anyways :)

Transmute is not worthless, It's a matter of your strategy and what's important to you.

I'm up to the eastern swaps and I still run into a lot of 10-50 coin items like thin caps and linen garments.
And rather than waste the space for a 10 coin item I transmute get a couple of coins and retain the space for more valuable cargo.

But I don't immediate sell everything I collect either. I keep alot of items on my packmules so that when my characters level I don't have to wait to buy them weapons & armor which are quite pricy. And spells break the bank.
I bought a medium cross bow from the travellers because at that point no one was droping them. That cost me 52K. For 1 weapon.
I keep and eventually use all the good stuff I pick up.
When all else fails, RUN!!!!

I used Transmute externsively, but what is the point? I've got to the end of the whole game with 20,000,000+ and nothing to spend it on. Is there anywhere I can spend it in the MP game? (I know there are shops but in my initial foray they are like the SP game - improved by me selling my good stuff!).

What I need are some really expensive items to buy that hurt! Then there's a reason to save the cash.

The only useful items I've bought that I couldn't find were the Spell books with huge mana bonuses. I only just afforded one at Glacern and have never bettered it's spec.

Perhaps it's time to trade if I can find anyone who'll take cash!
