yes blizzard still runs D1 online.... they cant stop if it has ovet 2 million people playing D1 online

of course that many ppl play D1 still..... most of the time the reason they play it is because they dont have D2

The most recent patch is 1.09 as I remember, but it should download itself while tryin to acces battle.net
If not, try looking for older patches with which the new one might work (like 1.08 or 1.07) or download 1.09 manualy (it's around 1,7 MB)

Make sure you do not lose your characters which may occur when installing patch 1.08 on earlier versions (use DiabloSaver or sth).

Actually the only thing Blizzard ever did to restrict the D1 channels was to forbid acces from any chat i.e. like Topaz (exept IRC I think) to battle.net

The main reson for players to stick witt D1 is that it has a better atmosphere, climat and people than D2. There is also no account stealing, and you can stray away from cheating (although you may be forced to use the DiabloSaver which is also able to scan for cheats and block autokill and such).

Anything else you would like to know? I could keep going like this forever
