Help How do i find the cows
Help , I keep reading about the secret cow level , How do i get there ? Is it available in single player mode? Are there any special requirements or equipment needed?
well, you know that a corpse in tristram drops a peg leg - Wirt's Leg - that can be used as a weapon? keep it. after you finish one difficulty level, go to act 1 (I'm not sure if it has to be on the higher difficulty level or not, but still...) and put Wirt's Leg and a tome of town portal into the horadric cube and merge 'em. it'll open up a special portal to the secret cow level.

all I know for a fact is that after you complete the game in one difficulty level, you'll be able to activate the secret cow level in the next difficulty level. I'm not sure if you have to do use it in the next difficulty level up, but I always have and it works.

oops. i made a new thread asking a question about this because i didn't think of searching. i completed all quests on all 3 levels. all 3 times i finished a level and starting a game on that same level leaves me at the barbarian town. i talked to all the NPC's til they had nothing else to say and checked all acts to verify all quests were done. I even went back to normal level (because i wanted to do a quick test) and killed baal again which brings me to another question. is it normal to kill these bosses, go to their lairs again and they're back?
how do i get from Harrogath to the rogue camp where i can combine these items?

Don't worry Pliz, I'll delete your other thread.
In Diablo, no monsters are dead forever, on the contrary it is part of the game that you go back and replay certain areas over and over again in order to find items. Boss monsters such as Baal and Mephisto drop better items than ordinary monsters, so many players go back and kill the bosses many, many times.
In order to reach the Secret Cow level, use the Waypoint and go back to Rouge Camp, which is the first town where you started the game. You need to do this on each of the 3 difficulty levels. When you log on, your character should be in the town where you last finished playing the game, let's say in Harrogath for instance. You don't need to talk to anyone, just take the Waypoint to the Stony Field area in Act 1. There, you remember you went to Tristram through a red portal. Take the red portal again and go to the northeast part of the area, and you will find a clickable treasure that spawns money and this item Wirt's leg. Bring Wirt's leg back to Rouge Camp. Buy a Tome of Town portals, put it together with Wirt's leg in your Horadric Cube and merge them as Robnark said above. Then a new red portal will appear, and that will take you to the Cow level.

i actually saw this on a diablo II site, to open cow portal, must complete all acts up thru Act V, kill Baal (diablo) then port back to Act I rouge encampment, put wirts leg (from tristram quest) and a tomb (book) of town portal together in the horadric cube and trans, can only do once per level.
sorry i can find the site right now, if i do, i will post later for spoiler

I don't think it would be open, but you can for sure open it again. That way without killing the cow king you can make as amny cow runs as you want to.

the cow level is very simple.
if you beat diablo (or baal for the expansion) on normal, you can create a normal game, use wirts leg and a tome of tp to open the portal. if you kill the cow king, or anyone else kills the king in a portal you made, you wont be able to make the portal anymore. the same goes for nightmare and hell. the cow portal, once made, will stay up as long as that game is up, regardless of how many people are in the game, if the cows are dead or alive etc. happy cow plowing.

Back in the days when I played Diablo II without the expansion, I remember being able to do cow runs over and over again. Does anybody know if it has been changed by LOD pack, or one of the patches?
I suppose it's LOD that changed the thing, bud I'd like to get sure without having to reinstall whole the game...
