Greetings, good gentlmens.
I've complete DS2 at Mercenary difficulty, then start Veteran, buy 5th slot for character, but I can't take ANY of humanoid-characters, because they are already in my inn, with low levels(18-25). How can I completly disband them, so game would allow me to hire "new" characters with same names, with hier levels(40+)?
How to take 5th character at Veteran Difficulty

There's a "release" button at the inn. I think this is supposed to allow you to get rid of current companions so you can recruit the new versions. Some people have said it works for them, but it didn't work for me.
If it doesn't work for you, either, then you might be best off trying a pet.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Simple
When you meet a new perspective hire... don't - they will stay in the same place and build skills
by this I mean I didn't recruit Armen when he was available so he nver went to the inn - at the end of the final act i went to recruit him to my party and he was 2 levels below the existing characters - with about 35 points to assign to his skilltree, As soon as they join you and you disband them, thus demoting them to a life of alcoholism in the bar, they will stay at level *redundant* - just don't recruit them till you need them
Baahh, pets are sweet, but I'd prefer somebody on 2 legs. And my inn full of lowlvl troglodits, which I can't dismiss.
So, anybody here have working "Release" button?
It's counter-intuitive. Go to the inkeeper, ask to put someone back in your party, an in-between the VIEW and ADD buttons is RELEASE. Hilight the one you want to release, and pres butan. I got a little nervous at the warning, so you may wish to do the releasing in MERCENARY difficulty, and then go recruit anew in VETERAN difficulty (the game says that a released party member is gone forever).

We know where the button is. We know what the button is supposed to do. It just doesn't work for us. For me, the button is always grayed out.

How very odd. I had to load up my game to check that. My 39th lvl character is in Kalrathia in Act III, Mercenary difficulty. When I went to the inn, "Release" was an option for Finala, but not for Taar. Are some party members marked "plot critical" (or, not having seen the ending yet, do I want to know the answer to that question?)
Taar:

I'm baffled.
