Shrines

Hi:

I just recently started playing DS, but one thing I would appreciate clearing up is about the Incantation Shrines.

Do these only operate if you have a "password" to type in? And can you travel between all Shrines?

I have been through 2 Shrines and stepping into them and clicking does nothing and not even a dropdown is given.

Can someone please explain how they are operated and how they relate to other locations??

You can recite chants at incantation shrines. You can either type the chant in manually (by pressing the enter key first), or you can open your journal, navigate to the chant you want, and then press the "recite chant" button.

If the above isn't clear, there's a shrine right outside Eirulan, and the guy next to it explains how they work.

Thanks for the help. For some reason I thought they were a "transporter" type of action. I see now what their purpose is. And I see the chants in my log.
