Newbie wants to save
I recently picked up Diablo 2, only to discover, to my horror, that there is no way to save in it. I was so annoyed by this, I uninstalled the thing. Has anyone ever made some kind of mod that allows players to save their game? Yes, I know the game saves when you exit, but I need to save in game. How do you guys cope with this? Doesn't it drive you nuts? I'd like to play this game, since I own a copy.

why do you want to save inngame? i have no problem with the saving...
i like it the way it is
i have not heard of any mod that allows you to save during gameplay, but maybe moltovir knows of one(he'l show up later)
and you should really try the game, even if you cannot save during gameplay. it's a great game anyway!

As far as I know, there isn't any mod that lets you save your character ingame, but perhaps they have one at the Phrozen Keep. Saving isn't really needed in a game like D2 though: when you die, you just recover your corpse and play on.

Hello Sparrow and welcome to the board!
When I started playing D2 many years ago, I was not used to the non-saving system and initially, I ran around and was nervous that I should die. I played my first character as a hardcore character (hardcore mode = when you die, the game is over and your character is lost) although she was softcore
In many games, you want savegames in case you die or in case you do something wrong that destroys your quest. In Diablo however, you can't do anything wrong (except make a bad character build, and that, no savegames will help you with) and if you die, you can either recover your corpse, or quit the game and your body and its' equipment will be in town. So really, there is no need to save your game. When you want to quit in the middle of an act, just make sure you have the nearest waypoint, and continue from there next time you play.
