Duriel is tought when you are a low lvl Sorc. You need to use your merc wisely, have you hired an Act 2 Merc? Equip him with a good armour and weapon and feed him healing and rejuv potions all the time. You need to stay away from Duriels physical attacks, so keep your distance, move around all the time. What skills do you use?

There are basically two schools of attack for Duriel when it comes to the sorceress, surprisingly she's one of the best characters when it comes to fighting him.

~

At level 6 in the lightning tree access to the spell "Static Field" becomes available, put one point into this and use it against bosses (consider carrying around an orb with +3 to this for occasion too). Let your hireling tank for a few seconds while you run up and just keep casting this skill as close as possible, it'll take less than one minute to reduce him to a sliver of health then just follow up with a good damage spell.

Static field is immensely useful for fighting bosses and some uniques, its downfalls are it does damage relative to the amount of health a creature has and it can never actually kill something. Additionally it's strength is considerably reduced in nightmare and hell, not to mention it's range is poor.

With this spell most boss battles shouldn't last more than a minute.

Secondly is to fill up one row of the belt with stamina potions and then cast blaze before entering the tomb, from here keep running around in circles and let Duriel give chase. Recast Blaze whenever required and just keep running from Duriel and eventually he'll go down, often it's rare to need any health potions.

Unless playing with Players 8 and a very powerful hireling Duriel often swats a minion dead in one or two hits, pain in the pockets.
