What Do You Want in KotOR III?
KotOR III: It is your... destiny!
I have just started KotOR II, so I haven't read this thread, and I don't know how much of this has already been done, but I would love to see these features in KotOR III. Man, the ideas are just flooding out...
Ideas for KotOR III
Gameplay
- Allow more than 20 character levels. Have adaptive enemies so stronger PC/NPCs means more/stronger enemies
- Have many more unique items, feats and force powers, only some of which will (randomly) appear in a game
- Each planet/environment has a couple of randomly generated "dungeons" which can give one or a few of these unique items/feats/force powers
- Have force components -- rare items with special force energy which make certain force powers possible. Components are consumed when the force power is cast. This opens up quests for components and the possibility for more powerful force powers.
- Have Droid powers -- like Force powers, only less powerful, and with a more technology-based theme. This could just be unique and powerful droid attachments, or it could be special programs you seek out and download. See below...
- Ability to direct a character to move to a specific spot
- Ability to throw a grenade to a specific spot on the ground
- Ability to put my own comments on a map
- Give vertical camera movement more inertia so it's not so jerky
- Add more hidden stuff - hard to find mini caves, planets, space stations
- Have a larger pool of character appearances (use face randomizer?). it's annoying to see the same faces over and over
- Have NPCs interact with dialogue, environment and each other more
- "Wow look at this place!"
- "(This machine sounds like my grandmother)"
- "Back here again?"
- "Back off or I'll sick HK on you... Get him, HK!" "Self Query: Do I take commands from a meatbag who is not my master? Answer: Delightfully, no."
- Add chaotic vs lawful dimension to alignment and associated abilities & force powers
- Have more quests available only to certain alignments
- Have quests only available to certain PC classes
- Have quests with multiple endings and multiple spin-off quests available *based on those endings* - more replayability!
- Have the ability to control speeders/small space ships/war machines in battle
- Have spell tweaks such as school specialization or chaos magic which affects outcome/strength/duration/range/etc. of force spells
- Have similar tweaks for droid powers
- Have side quests to learn/research new Jedi powers or to grant other NPCs special feats or to gain unique items
- Have more moral dilemmas - sacrifice one person to save another, and the survivor stays with you, so your choice has a big impact on the game, etc.
- Have vehicles that PC can create and drive and customize (thrusters/blasters/cloaking/etc). Better repair = better vehicle
NPCs
- Someone who gives everyone nicknames
- Character with the sarcasm of Leia in Episode IV (i.e. "You're braver than I thought")
- Impulsive teenager who is always getting into trouble (trapped, jail, insulting important contacts, etc.) Takes work for PC to properly guide him or her (to LS or DS Upredictability could be funny and fun.
- Moody - NPC whose mood changes depending on PC's alignment or actions or time of day, etc. NPCs abilities change with mood. PC with persuasion might be able to control it better.
- Doppleganger - someone who can take on the appearance of another humanoid
- Jedi droid - a unique droid which has somehow found a way to command the force. Quest answers how this droid came to be.
Quests
- Alone without equipment against dozens of war machines. Find weapons, find way to trap/disable/sneak into a war machine, hijack & fight back against all the other machines
- Protect 3-5 Jedi children against a large threat, like a Rancor. LS: ask them to stay close, tell them to hide under various things, destroy distractions which lure them into danger, etc. Or for DS, let one lure the beast so PC can escape
- Run into a situation where PC needs to suggest/allow one light-side Jedi NPC (and good friend) to be struck down. In spirit form, this NPC has more powers to help the party such as viewing creatures in next room, boosting party, teleporting/telekinesing objects?
- Prequal: Transport a Jedi couple destined to change the balance of the force. One turns to the dark side, and PC ends up with the other: Offspring is Revan
- PC has to use a utility cable and swing from one platform to another while carrying another NPC. Might be funny with a man rescuing another man
- Stuck in a room with no weapons or stealth and way too many bad guys. Program a series of distractions and traps to move enemies away from where you want to go
- Infiltrating an enemy camp, and one NPC occasionally starts to act on their own in disturbing ways. Then the other NPC starts to do the same. At a critical point, PC discovers video showing real NPCs somewhere else trapped and in danger... These NPCs are imposters perhaps with lethal weapons or vital quest items! Bluff way out of NPC trap, attack them directly, or set a trap for them before they know the PC knows?
- Find parts and a ship factory to construct a speeder or small ship or teleporter to escape a ship sinking into a (toxic?) ocean. With good skill, speeder/ship can go under water or up into the air to discover more goodies.
- Up against a strange creature which multiplies when you attack it. Find a way to kill creatures before getting overwhelmed.
- Small village is under attack and in flames, and Jedi can give villagers commands to send out scouts or put out fires or fortify walls or prepare grenades at this wall, etc. Enemy response changes depending on current weakness of village. Right combination of commands and knowing who PC should attack gets everyone through. Plenty of DS opportunities here too.
- Similarly, enemy is fortified with weapons, droids, turrets, Dark Jedi, etc and PC and NPCs go into solo mode to command 1-3 small squads of soldiers to carry out commands like setting mines, attacking turrets, distracting troops while one PC/NPC moves in for the kill or infiltrates. Right combination of commands gets party through defenses.
- At some point when party is less than 3, an "enemy" NPC claims to be defecting and has vital secrets to deliver to Jedi council. Should he or she join party? Is it for real or a trick? Perhaps outcome is random? Perhaps PC persuasion can influence outcome? Perhaps NPC appears to be giving secrets and playing along and only later sets a trap for Jedi...
Items
- A posessed light saber with attitude and special abilities to unlock with the right owner and dialogue
- Items which grant extra attack, one force power, enhance something about a force power (duration, # targets, etc.)
- Hoverboard (floating skateboard) for faster movement, floating over water, etc.
- Light saber randomly and temporarily steals a feat/Jedi power from struck enemy - PC has to decide whom to attack
- Droid multiplug adapter which holds two special attack items, so one attack might cause a shock AND flame throwing. You could have similar adapters for other slots too.
- Items which gain new abilities over time
Settings
- Cliff face - find a way to attack on the wall, or climb to small ledges when enemies approach. Perhaps Jedi telekinesis allows a player to jump out and land again on another ledge...
- Mine shafts - raise and lower elevators to get to different levels
- Floating platform - don jet packs and fight in 3D among the clouds. Perhaps player needs to push a button to fire vertical thrusters against gravity?
- Swimming - ability to go underwater for short distances, shooting is easier than swordfighting...
Minigame
- Think of the chess-like creature game R2 played with Chewbacca in Episode IV. Buy, create, customize mini-creatures to battle others.
Feats
- Jump Back - ability to jump backwards out of close combat
- Melee Disarm - chance of disarming enemy blade/blaster
Force Powers
- Telekinesis - ability to throw items at opponent, ability to grab things out of reach
- Force Disarm - chance to grab enemy weapon and bring to PC's hand
- Command corpse - DS ability to raise up a corpse to attack foes
- Commune with dead - LS ability to converse with dead & see visions of what took place there in the past...
- Disguise - take on the physical appearance of another character - lots of quest possibilities here
- Reflection - bounce force attacks back on the attacker w/ save
- Acrobatics - ability to jump from one platform to another - opens up interesting platform/lever puzzles, etc.
- Copy power - ability to copy a Jedi's power for a short time
- Teleport object - ability to grab an item from the next room, or place a mine in the next room, etc.
- Polymorph - ability to turn into a beast for attacking or disguise
- Explode object - target object near enemy and cause it to explode. some items do more damage than others.
- Force Trigger - delay the effect of a force power until the right trigger condition is met - enemy near, low HP, etc.
Droid Powers
- Control Droid - ability to "possess" another droid and cause it to attack enemies, etc.
- Droid Persuade - ability to persuade another droid in dialogue
- Targeting Bug - causes enemy droid to attack self or others randomly
- Virus - infects one droid, spreads to others... perhaps slow and 100% contagious, or quick like chain lightning
- Droid Bomb - causes droid to seek out a clump of enemies and explode
- Actuator Malfunction - causes droid to drop everything it has
I could do this all day... Hm. Maybe I should consider a career change? ;-)

if only obsidian read these forums then they would have a great game .
I want kotor III to be after kotor II. What i meant was that as a child it begins around kotor I. so the child is like 8-10years old. Kotor II is 5 years after Kotor I. So if kotor III was 5 years after II it would make the child 20. The child part of the game introduces the player to Kotor III gives some insight to the game. Reintroduces some of the old favourites and gives the child a history such as his home world being messed up. As a child you could have been friends with mission and she helps you out at the start before joining reven. You could have tried to join a swoop gang but was found to be to young. Get kicked out of cantinas push around aliens and the usual light and dark stuff. This part of the game would be a mere 30 mins to an hour. After which the game then goes from childhood to adulthood which is based after the events of kotor II.
The mandalorian wars would be great but we know the outcome and the heros. Kotor to me is a game that introduces new events and new heros hence the reason why its 4000 years before the movies. You could be the illigitamate child of reven or the son of a taris noble. you could even be one of the children from the sewers on taris where the hobos live.
Playing Galaxies and empire at war has given me a taste of how big this star wars universe is. There is so much to do. imagine all of that in kotor.Well imagine at least a bit of it. KOTOR III could have you following the path of reven and the exile. Working out what happened to them finding the pieces of the starforge and that species that lives on the planet lol. some of the debree of the starforge could be used in a lightsaber for a great power up.
Like gregthesleeper said round up the 'true sith' by doing this you would follow the path of reven and find out where he was. There is one thing that knows this and i bet its that garbage can looking droid . First you could go in search of the droids and some of his old crew as well as some of the exiles crew.
The True sith would make for some nasty bad guys. A good twist for that story would be that your character is the child of a jedi and a true sith or he could have even been born simply from the dark side but have the ability to turn good.
For a sith lord this time i would like to see a sith that aint twisted by the dark side such as the others. One whose beauty lures in the jedi and tricks them into thinking she is good. Another sith could be pure energy by becoming one with the force. But one thing is for sure the main character will become the ultimate so his twin should be the opposite creating the ultimate end battle.
jedi mind trick could be expanded upon. you could use ur mind trick to control the enemy and get them to engage in conversation with others and use them like pupets. Jedi powers are endless really when you think about it. its all up to the imagination of the person making the game.
im glad to here you all like hutt killing just as much as me .

I ve been thinking about this and this is what i wish the story line was.
It starts out your a child and you on some world (who cares where) and one of the exiles party members finds you and takes you away because your a force adept. Depending on what class you choose at the begining it could varry in who picks you up. Like if you choose to be a consular visas could pick you up and if your a lightside guardian then handmaiden picks you up etc. And you will be there apprentice. They take you back to a hidden acadamy where you are trained and you meet your future party members who are currently padawans of the exiles old party members. One day when you and all the padawans are sent on a long mission that will take a few days you all depart into the wilderness. When your through with whatever mission your sent on you return to the acadamy to find it in ruin. Apparently the true sith turn up and beat the hell out of your masters, Upawn searching the ruin you find a datapad with a star map on it and it tells you where to go to find revan and the exile who have realized the error of there ways if they were darkside and have united to fight the true sith. You go to the strange world and find revan and the exile who have started an acadamy on this strange world. You and your party do a few missions concerning the true sith in your space ship (hopefully not the ebon hawk) going to different worlds and spying on the true sith you realize that there planning on going into known space to attack the republic while there unsuspecting. You race back to the acadamy and tell revan and the exile what is going to happen. Revan and the exile decide to move there acadamy that has grown quite large back into known space to warn the republic and help with the war that is soon to come.
Your party is set with the rather difficult task of finding the True siths home world so the republic can mout an attack and try to destroy the Sith. But the republic soon finds out that they dont have the power to win a battle with the sith on the sith's home world. So they recruit an unlikely alley (who is thinking what im thinking:mischief: ) Yes well here is what a people have benn waiting for The mandalorians . So after your party searches out all the clues you find the sith home world. and the republic the mandalorians and the new jedi order go to ther homeworld and fight a long hard battle. But you and your party have to help with the killing of the Emperor who has killed the exile and revan because he just kicks but like that. You and your party have to get past the palace's defences and kill the emperor. Then there is a nice ceremony honering the exile and revans death and celebrating peace in the galaxy.
So what do you guys think.

Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

Not sure they would accept the ideas think they have a policy against that. In this day and age people love to sue and they dont want to get sued for some1 else's ideas i guess. They could get talented people to work with them, they are hiring after all http://www.obsidianent.com/

(With NVN2 so close to finish this suggests they have something new coming along, my guess is KOTOR III using NVN2 engine *Drools*). But again most of these ideas are educated, in saying that they are from people who have played the series so have an idea what might be next.
Like the true sith as mentioned before. Revan the exile the jedi enclave on dantooine. All things we can expect to see in the new game. If only the modding in KOTOR was as easy as NVN then the community could make an Unofficial expansion. With all these fantastic idea's combined and the KOTOR storyline a great mod could be forged.

Well krunomo im glad you like my idea. and i am actually living in San Diego right now. But im only 14 years old. I would of course be happy to sign over my idea to whoever is making the game for no cost, i just want the game to be good.
I'm not paranoid! Which of my enemies told you this?

Hmm, i've been thinking about the Revan/Exile academy, and i've got an idea, maybe Revan is searching for a way to stop the Sith, and the Exile is searching for him/her, and so you have to round both, or maybe one of them up.
At the beginning of you game you could (as someone suggested) customise Revan and the Exile, choosing one DS and one LS, and then meet up with both of them at the same time, and have a confrontation, choosing one of them to join your party, and thus choosing LS/DS.

Rebel in decibels, against - what? The same-old, whatever they've got.
What I want in KoTOR III:
-More choices, not just focusing on light/dark.
-Better companions.
-Hire mercenaries.
-You don't "have" to use the force. Instead you can be an Assassin or a Bounty Hunter. Things like that.
-A big, long story.
-You can join the Sith this time, or be a Rebel.
-Guilds and Factions that are joinable, and you can't join them all.
-More races.
-PLEASE! Keep the same combat engine, it's fantastic no-matter what people may say.
-More mini-games.
-Able to do different things after you complete the game. Like if you beat it on the Dark side, you could invade planets. Things in those lines...
-Space! Please.
-And finally, just make it an awesome game. I know you can do it.

I agree with keeping the same combat engine. But maybe they could make it to where it werent so boring like add some flips or doging when nothing is happening.
I would like being able to actually join the sith. This would make the game soo much better.
I like the idea of being able to hire mercenaries as well.
"-Guilds and Factions that are joinable, and you can't join them all."
I love this idea although joining the sith/jedi could complicate this so maybe there could be certain factions that you could join if you were sith and others if you were jedi.
"-You don't "have" to use the force. Instead you can be an Assassin or a Bounty Hunter. Things like that."
Well you didnt have to use the force in the first two if you didnt want to, but maybe there could be different advantages for each one. Like if your jedi/sith you would have force powers and if you were an assassin you could have something different like the ability to use stealth without a stealth feild generator.

Agreed.
"-And finally, just make it an awesome game. I know you can do it."
Absolutely.

Actually, you could use 'force camoflauge' as a Jedi Watchman in K2
But, i do like the idea of have non-force using classes, perhaps they could include changes in the storyline, places only those specific classes could go, things only they could use.
And above all, they need the ablitiy to jump at will.

ahh. you are right. i forgot about luke... yes... you could go on different quests to gain more force points, or more force powers, and get more special force powers (ie: force crush, force enlightenment) and maybe even some special feats according to what class you are. yea... yea... that would make alot of sense also because alot of ppl complain about the game not being long enough *is one herself*
