Ok, like the topic says, I am interested in what the most favored character classes are, and WHY.
Myself, I like to play the tanks. Give me a good set of armor, and I'll play "Whack a mole" allllllll day long. I know other people favor mages or rangers.
Anyways, my 2 bits.
Happy gaming,
Vamp

Hi Vamp,
I like very much to play multiclass character so I'm triyng to growing up a combat mage/fighter. In this game is hard to have a good multiclass but I think mine is doing good trough the game. I cast spell to farther enemies and when they are too close I use a 2 handed melee wpn (Frostheim sword ) to slay them.
It's very hard to balance skillpoints however but it's very nice to play. It' s also hard to find a good balanced equipment who guarantee to deal good damage to foes with spell and wpn but I like this way of gaming .....
( for who like DandD my fav class is the fighter/mage/rogue )

About the D&D, you are talking to an "old school" player of the game. I remember when it was nothing more than a pamphlet instead of all these books. There were only 2 classes of mage (M/U and cleric), Fighters came in either the melee or ranged variety, and thieves were played solely for detecting traps and thieving. Heck I used to have EVERY book in the game, and it all fit into a regular backpack. Even met Gary Gygax once in WV at a con hosted by WVU.
My fave in D&D was the multi-classed fighter/ thief.

I am fond of the two-handed Melee combat fighters to get out the most amount of damage possible. The special power that fires out a wave of damage is a great offensive weapon, just clears the room out pretty quick.
I'm also working on multiplayer with Combat mages which are fun and have some great magic and powers available. I am especially fond of the first power which puts a magic ball over my head and fires them at any enemy that steps near me.
Worst is probably a ranger because there's a bug with them that if they have something blocking them, they will keep firing into the wall instead of moving around it.

I'm currently playing a combat mage as I figured that character would take the most instruction during a fight. Throw out a curse, then change spells based on the weakness of whoever I'm fighting. Unfortunately though, while he does the most damage, he also dies if he ever goes toe to toe. I have built my warrior up with the shield and provoke, but sometimes someone slips through. After many tough fights, my warrior is often the only one left standing, so I'm thinking about trying the warrior next time. I'm just a little worried he might get boring with only one type of attack. Doesn't whack-a-mole get boring after 40 hours of gameplay?

There is something to be said for whacking one mole and seeing 10 others die from the special attack of a 2H weapon. My dual wield has a very nice attack speed, often landing 4 or 6 hits for every attack of the mob. And like you said, if you DO go toe to toe the fighter can take a LOT more damage than most other classes while staying on task of killing.
