Should I get this Game?

Post by Crazylegs16 »

Hello, Im new to these forums and somewhat new to Action RPGS. Ive played DS1 and Titan Quest ( I own titan quest but not DS1 played at friends house  ). I would give DS 1 a 8 out of 10 and Titan Quest a 9 out of 10, but anyway I was wondering is DS2 and DS2:BW worth buying? Im just wondering so I dont waste 80 bucks on both of them  ?

DS2 is, as DS1, a remarkable simple and unsofisticated game. There's nothing new in its interface compared to other Action RPG's, and the gameplay is very trivial and offers nothing new and exiting that the gaming industry hasn't already seen. But there's something about DS that just wants you to keep on hacking and slicing through mobs, some sort of atmosphere, and they've managed to maintain that atmosphere in DS2, which alone makes it worthwhile. The game engine is in todays standards nothing fantastic, and the characters and their personalization is below horrible, but you just don't care. You just want that next shiny bow with the magical arrows, or that sword that has a frost aura around it - and that's what it's all about really. Who cares about the game's standards compared to other games out there if you're having a blast playing it. Playing a computer game is all about having fun, and as far as that's concerned, you won't be dissapointed when buying Dungeon Siege 2.

That said I would recommend that you buy DS2 to start with, and if you like it there's nothing stopping you in getting the expansion, but don't spend money on that until you know for sure that the money are well spent. Just my 2 cents.

If you liked Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest, then you'll probably like Dungeon Siege II as well. And it shouldn't cost you $80. They came out with a "deluxe edition" that includes the regular game and the expansion pack, and that should only cost you $40 or so.

well it depends on what ya like about titan quest and ds1. if ya think ds1 gets an 8 out of 10 then i would think that ds2 would get a 8 to 9 out of 10 as well.

I bought DS2 Deluxe Edition, which includes both DS2 and BW for 25 bucks at walmart, so ya can save lots of money by buying the deluxe instead of the 2 boxes, the only difference is that the manuals for the games are on a cd in deluxe and not booklet format as with the 2 boxed editions, but deluxe includes stuff not included in the 2 boxed editions, so it could have more value...

also if ya dont have ds1, its best to buy DS Legends of Aranna, as ya get ds1 and its expansion all on same cd for cheap.

I'd recommend buying DS2 WITH the expansion. As others stated here, you can get the Deluxe Edition for $40, which translates to $20 for each game(my 'magic' mark if I intend to buy something). Getting both adds better character options in my opinion, but your mileage may vary. :mischief:
I'd rather be part bull than a complete sheep.

Yeah, that's actually the same feeling I get out of it! I know bunch of dudes that'll say negative things about it, and I agree, but I just enjoy playing it...It's some sort of relaxation chemistry that I get out of the DS...Nothing to think about, no particular strategy, except withdrawing from time to time, and that's it...
