Numeric Figures

Post by Liara »

I'm crazy about numbers. But next to that, I wish to be able to calculate what exactly an item does, and so what suits best. Currently I'm wondering if a difference of +50 defence makes up for the lack of 28 armour. To do so, I wish to know the following.
  • How much does a +health attribute point allocation matter in your health regeneration?
  • How much does a +energy attribute point allocation matter in your energy regeneration?
  • How much does a strength point increase your physical damage?
  • How much does an energy point increase your elemental damage?
  • How much does a dexterity point increase pierce damage?
  • What exactly is the difference between normal and pierce damage?
  • What precisely does defence do?
  • What precisely does offence do?
If someone can help me with any or all of these, that would make me happy. I hope someone did research to it and can post (or point me to) his or her findings.

Merry Questing!

How much does a +health attribute point allocation matter in your health regeneration?

How much does a +energy attribute point allocation matter in your energy regeneration?
Health/Energy regenration is based on the number in your character sheet and it goes by the seconds past in game. No matter how much health you have, 4 health regeneration simply means, you regenerate 4 health per second. The same will apply to Energy.
How much does a strength point increase your physical damage?
How much does an energy point increase your elemental damage?
How much does a dexterity point increase pierce damage?
Varies per weapon or spell, the percentages are virtually unknown, or are otherwise too complex a formula to figure out in the game itself.
What exactly is the difference between normal and pierce damage?
In reality, it's a mere damage type. If someone has resistance to normal damage but not piercing damage, then a piercing weapon will do damage to it. There's about as much a difference in these damage types as normal damage is to fire damage.
What precisely does defence do?
What precisely does offence do?
Exactly what it says in game. Better chance to hit and a better chance to critical. Defense being the opposite, better chance to avoid being hit and a better chance to avoid being critically hit. The change is virtually unnoticeable at first, but don't make the mistake of simply not worrying about it. In later acts when enemies have some insane damage and skills to improve that, Offense and Defense is virtually invaluable.

Great,

thanks,

Right what I needed.

Shame the exact figures aren't known so you can calculate the effect an equipment piece has...

I've found a vault of information. Detailed, thorough and written by the person that wrote the game manual. Wouldn't want to keep it from you.

Here's links! Happy delving.
