I have played Mass Effect for a couple of days now and ran into the question wich ammo upgrade is the best to use. I am playing a lvl 18 vanguard with a scimitarIII shotgun and my ammo upgrade is the chemical round II, but do you guys think I could make a better use against those anoing aliens.
I suppose that against the geth droids it would be usefull to have a upgrade wich is usefull against synthetics, but I am lazy and don't want to swap my upgrade all the time.
Ammo upgrades, to use or not to

How should a world without games look like?
I think it would really be lame.

If you're playing on the default difficulty, then you can probably use any upgrade you want, or no upgrade, and be fine. But otherwise it's useful to switch to the best upgrade for whatever you're fighting. Eventually you'll find upgrades that do fire damage over time, and they work against everything.

I did take the trouble to make basic ammo changes - anti-bio for Thorian creepers, tungsten against the Geth - and that seemed very effective although I never tried not doing it to see what difference that made. I could never decide what was best to use against husks as they seemed to be a mix of bio and tech. The gun construction / modification system was so long winded that it almost put me off bothering with it.Uvinity wrote:I have played Mass Effect for a couple of days now and ran into the question wich ammo upgrade is the best to use. What did annoy me was the lack of a specific unarmed combat option (ie, fight with fists only) as that made it much more difficult to NOT kill the infected colonists in the final act on Feros. I tried again and again (and again) until I finally found the grenade reload halfway through the colony - until then, I never had enough anti-Thorian gas grenades to knock everyone over peacefully.
