xbox 360 expansions

ok i got the game for the xbox 360 i bought the game of the year edition which comes with a second disc were you can download the expansions but i downloaded em twice and nothing in the game is different can someone please help me i just got my xbox 360 like 3 weeks ago and i really have no idea what i'm doing

Have you looked in the quest logs, usually there is a notification box pops up saying something about the new quests ie a strange door appears for shivering isles content etc. Then the quests appear in the quest logs.
