How not to make a point, starring Peter Abetz.

Post by Ode to a Grasshopper »

From our very own Aussie ABC: Hitler cited over stop and search laws. Not that uncommon, except that this time the similarities to Nazi Germany are being cited in favour of introducing said stop-and-search laws. From the article:
The legislation would allow police to search people for weapons and drugs in areas such as Northbridge without having to prove grounds of suspicion.

Last night Liberal backbencher Peter Abetz spoke in support of the legislation and used the example of Hitler.

He said the dictator gained support because he provided people security in a time of anarchy.
Needless to say, that didn't go down too well. Way to make your case there, dumbass.

No matter the benefits, using anything from that era as a positive example is almost certainly instant failure.

If nothing else, because the people needing to be convinced wouldn't be able to pick up the subtle nuances of the time period, because if they could - you'd not need such exemplification. Catch 22.
