Of course not, I was thinking more of a ruling like the one in this Onion clip, only applied to the portrait instead of Alyson Hannigan. You know, on the grounds of artistic merit.
Come to think of it, I'd also be down for allowing the exception to apply to Alyson Hannigan images too...

I like the overall style better, but as others have mentioned, the layout for the different forums is too clunky. I know may sites use that format but Game Banshee has too many sub forums to lay it out that way.
The enter text window is almost eyebleedingly bright next to the background, could be dimmed a hair I think. Maybe I just have a preference for clean lines.

I'm not getting this: my text is as usual, a rather light shade of gray. I wonder if this is due to monitor settings? It's a rather attractive image, all in all.jklinders wrote:The enter text window is almost eyebleedingly bright next to the background, could be dimmed a hair I think. To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I like it! I certainly do not experience any of the colour bleeding and eye-injuries mentioned by some members - may be a monitor setting issue like Fable suggests? On the contrary, I think the new design looks elegant and sober. With so much black, grey and ochre it difficult for me to understand how it could disturb anyones eyes.

I posted this in the Feedback forum, since that seemed a better place. I'll repost here.
When reading posts in the P&P RPG section, I have to sidescroll the screen to read the whole post. Is this intentional? Maybe optimised for 1268*960 resolution? It's very annoying when you're on another resolation.
Strangely, I have no problem viewing other fora here.
Apart from that, I don't care much about change, as long as things don't become worse. I did like the less colourful previous layout better, though, without the orange text, blue/red "new post" indicators, yellow boldings in the quotes, etc.
EDIT: Where can I find a legend to the post-icons before the threads? Like the envelope, the envelope with an arrow over it,...?

Going by knowledge of forums, the blue envelopes are threads/topics under a specific views (under 300 it seems from what I can see by a quick overview of SYM) and red are above.
Envelopes with arrows are threads where you've posted a post as well
You can see an overview of them in the bottom of the forum view, for example when viewing SYM, they should appear in the bottom of the board

Well my monitor setting had not changed, the enter text window just seemed brighter to me. Then again, I seem to be getting a little more sensitive to brightness off screens lately. The overall appearance of the actual discussions are great.fable wrote:I'm not getting this: my text is as usual, a rather light shade of gray. I wonder if this is due to monitor settings? Good work, though I do agree with the others that it does look a little cluttered. Plus, I find the 'online/offline' icon next to your name is a bit big for my taste. The small dot previously used does look better, to be honest.
But thanks anyway.
But thanks anyway.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
Have to agree with this one. The actual size wouldn't be that big problem if the whole icon were used to show the status. Now, as only small part of it is used for that purpose (which isn't always as easy to see with quick glance) the whole icon seems a bit big. Perhaps if the whole icon were used, in example when online the icon would be in colors and if offline only black & white or something similarDesR85 wrote:Good work, though I do agree with the others that it does look a little cluttered. Also, the writing section for new messages seems a bit bright, mostly because the frames around the text field in so light in color compared to the actual text field and the rest of the background. Would it be possible to change the colors so that the grey background would be near the rest of the background, the frame where the buttons and smilies are would be a bit lighter than that but not as light as it's now?
For example, the "more" button in the smilies section is hardly visible now. And the lines in "Additional Options" section has the same problem.

Aye... Let us mourn the demise of that (well not really a demise per se, but it sounds so much more dramatic) together.Nightmare wrote:I got a little excited when I clicked on "News and Feedback", expecting a resurrected News Forum, but alas, no luck.
By the way, I think the Reply to Thread window looks a little to bright for my tastes. Doesn't suit the dark background at all.
Still, I like the new look very much. Makes everything look fresh.

I suspect I shall like it when I get used to it. I haven't been in here for a day or so, so it came as a bit of a shock! :speech:
It DOES look nicer. Tidier, too. And I like the look of it. But I did like opening the site and seeing everything on the page, instead of having to go Category/subcategory. But that's ok. It didn't take many seconds to spot where things are.
Actually, I think I like it already!
PS: that 'multiquote' button looks as though it might be handy. When I figure out how to use it...
