I believe that they can, but only if your reputation drops below 6. Has nothing to do with the armor.
You can't use any sword with a Cleric/Ranger, only blunt weapons.
The perfect character

Celestial fury isn't that good. Also, because Cleric/Rangers can't use bladed weapons, I didn't bother mentioning the weapons that usually increase attack speed. With Improved Haste on, you'd have eight attacks anyway.
I'm not a fan of Crom Fayer as the Flail of Ages +3 is infinitely more useful as it not only slows, but the elemental damage goes through spell protections, which kills mages quickly. You can also upgrade the flail to +4 as soon as you hit ToB, given that you've picked it up at the Watcher's Keep.

“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
I plan on getting it before I hit ToB. Iirc, you can tackle Watcher's Keep out of gate, from SoA if you want. I won't be able to do the whole Keep but I can delve deep enough to get the 4th flail head.Crenshinibon wrote:You can also upgrade the flail to +4 as soon as you hit ToB, given that you've picked it up at the Watcher's Keep.
Anyways, I've usurped this thread long enough. Thanks for the guidance everyone.

Swashbuckler is a really good one. My PC is really good. Its better to be a thief then to have to look for one. Not to mention always being able to detect traps comes in handy, as well as always being able to pick locks. Yea its cool to be a mage or cleric, but hello, aerie, jahiera, need i say more. Though most people criticize them, if you know how to use them, they are unstoppable. Kinda like MInsc and Keldorn. all of which i have in my party by the way So i do not need to be a fighter or magical. I can just pick locks and stealth away at will. Another useful thing is i dual wield with two fire swords or an "Alignment sword" and one that is plus 5 while wearing these speed boots (double attacks per round all the time as well as movement) and some other stuff i have (girdle of 19 strentgh) i hit in the teens and twenties all the times. So this is a good set up if you don't want your PC to be a total woose and always have to hang back you know.

Just so's you know, the Boots of Speed will only give you an extra attack per round rather than doubling them - you'll still need Improved Haste for that.

I just want to thank everyone for their guidance here. I ran a cleric ranger and it was a staggering amount of power. The way I built him, he had high MR and DR and very low saves (in the negatives) and ridiculous THAC0. With buffs nothing could could touch him for sustained periods of time.
The only time I felt vulnerable was when I chose to go toe-to-toe with some severely powerful foes and they hammered away my Iron Skins...which you can recast instantly.
The mage might be more powerful *for specific, shorter durations*, but the cleric ranger was an avatar of endurance, resistance, adaptability and punishing power. Highly recommended for newer players.
