I'm currently playing a patched vanilla IWD (no mods, no expansions) on Windows XP and I've encountered a slight problem. On two occasions, after completing a side quest, I received no reward, even though the NPC specifically stated he/she gives me one. The sitautions are listed below:

1) The shadow elven priestess in Solonar Tower - I can't remember her name, but she asked me to kill all priests in the upper levels and bring her some holy water. For dispatching the priests I received a magic sling and for the barrel of water she said something like "Please, take this item as a token of gratitude" but I got nothing. Bewildered, I checked some FAQ and found out that I should have gotten the Sune's Laurel of favour. I didn't even get the "your party has gained an item" message.
2) Orrick the Gray - After handing him the Book of Mythal, he said something like "Take this artifact..." but never gave me anything. Weirder still, the only available responce is "NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS". Again, the FAQ states I should have received some random item.
Thus said, I get XP bonuses accurately. Now, all these can not spoil the game for me, but I still feel swindeled. So, has anyone encounterd such problem and is there a way to fix it? I appreciate any help you can provide.
