All Alone With Sloth Demon

Has anyone else had the problem of getting to the Sloth Demon but not having anyone else there? I've released my party, they all disappeared, but didn't come back when I got to the Sloth. Can't beat it alone, wondered if there was something I hadn't done.

Very odd... I've run multiple characters through that section of the game, all without a problem..

I suppose to eliminate possibilities, is your game patched, and are you using any mods?

Well, I got it from Steam, so assumed it would be updated but you know how that goes. I'll patch it with the latest and see. The only thing I can think of is that before I released my party I had gone and talked to the Sloth Demon, maybe that did something.

I had it happen once, but a reload of before the battle and I had them the second time around.

But I never talked to the demon before freeing the party, so you're right - that might have broken something. And yes - if it isn't patched - try that as well.

Found the problem

I went back and replayed from an older save game. It seems that if you talk to the Sloth Demon before you set your party free and tell it you're going to go back (to free your party), they aren't there when you come back for the final battle later. I don't know if that was intentional or it is a bug. I could only beat the Sloth (8th level mage) to the third form it took. If it isn't a bug, and someone beats it alone all the way through, I'd like to know how.
