What kind of game are YOU waiting for?

Anything goes... just keep it clean.

What kind of game are YOU waiting for?

Post by Stworca »

I write this one cause two broken fingers make me unable to play any wild action game, and i have a pause from all those turn-based games :)

Soooo... As the title says. A sequel? A total remake of a game? Two/more games merged into a masterpiece? A brand new idea? Anything goes!

Here's my wish, that hopefully will come true.. Lets just hope that it'll be sooner than once my grand, grand children will be long dead and the young will learn about PC's from archeologists.

Name : I don't care, as long as its not including words that would suggest some hardporn
Genre : RPG.
Linear? : HELL NO! Everything but NOT linear. I have dropped Deus Ex when it turned out that you cannot stay with UNATCO. Imagine chess computer enemies running the same moveset all the effin time, regardless of what you do (unless you check) I absolutely hate when the games don't give you the power to alter to storyline / ending at least slightly. That includes strategy games! Even Age of Wonders (part 1) had SIX endings! That's a turn-based strategy! While Icewind Dale don't let you alter anything, and it's an.. "rpg" (more of a hack'n'slash to me)
World? : Does not matter, as long as its in an "age" of swords and magic, but not machines.
Graphics : I don't care at all, i've had more fun with X-com than with all those "Quad core required to even launch the intro" games

Location : This is where it gets tricky.. A corrupted, evil, chaotic city, ruled by fear and power, or divided in power into many factions, who actively fight each other. A perfect scenario would be a drow city (drow are dark elves from D&D world. They are as treacherous and as chaotic as it can get without destroying the society) World where you cannot survive alone, even if you're the most powerfull creature in the city, the others will ally against you, and slowly destroy ya if you cross the line, unless you pull ALL the strings(Europa Universalis / Space Empires)

Storyline : You start at the bottom of the ladder, and your goal is to place yourself as high as possible. Lots of random events happening, LOADS of quests. ****LOADS of things changing randomly over time. No storyline is needed. You could also end the game in any moment ('retire'), and get a summary what have you accomplished, and where does that put you (like in NWN2 : Storm of Zehir)

Gameplay : I think that morrowind-like fighting mechanics would be sufficient, except for the levitation bug, that caused foes to run in fear. However, i wouldn't mind a more active approach to the melee fight. Games like Gothicor Jedi Knights series had wonderfull melee fighting systems. Hell, even Tenchu!. Add to this some nice stealth mechanics (including light, noise, missing / moved items) and a totaly open and unrestricted city.. Well, restricted, but by its rulers, guards, merchants et cetera.

Quests: It does not matter what kind of quests would one get, as long as you could twist it to your favor (its a dark and evil city after all), betray and be betrayed. A perfect scenario would include a very long term consequences of each action, even the slightest one. The whole point wouldn't be getting 100 coins for killing someone, but buying something for those 100 coins that will help your influence and speed up your uprising. The murder itself would also affect a thing or two, depending on how well you've hidden all the evidences!

Finishing touches As mentioned above, there would be no permanently locked doors, and invisible barriers within the city. You could go and do whatever you want, as long as you could handle the consequences! The city would not have to be big (but if i see any good game as short as ToEE i swear i'll go berserk) the thousands of ways to achieve your goals.. The goals that YOU ALONE set up.. would turn even a 3-buildings-village area into a long and enjoyable game, that huge worlds like Oblivion did not deliver. "Seduce, steal, betray, kill.. whenever YOU want - (insert the title here)" a nice slogan!

Some kind of farming game in space where you have to herd all these little space piggies and teach them tricks by jumping through hoops that you collect while playing certain minigames that are basically trivial persuit questions on early 20th century industrial design. It will also have a Facebook app.

One that meets all of my nostalgic yearnings? :D

OK, an RPG with a strong story, interesting NPCs, varied, complex quests, a nice combat system, decent graphics, suitably atmospheric music and not overly linear.

Setting: I'm not truly fussed, but I'm not as much into sci-fi, so something other than that. I could probably go for some kind of genuine historical setting like Classical Greece or maybe MesoAmerica..

Name: As long as it isn't something excessively moronic and isn't accompanied by images of barely dressed female "warriors" on the packaging I'll be happy. (I'm not prude, I'm just a realist, there's no way I'd enter any kind of battle dressed in nothing more than a bikini  )

But truthfully, I'm just as happy to wait and see what Dragon Age 2 and Witcher 2 bring. ;)

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
