I wanted to do another playthrough, since it's been quite a while since the last, but I'm encountering a very annoying bug: the game crashes at very specific points. Namely, leaving Mebbeth's house and right after talking with Yvana in the museum in the lower ward. The first crash can be circumvented with enough tries, but the second one happens every time without fail.
I've the 2CD version + widscreen mod, ghostdog's UI and the Qwinn patches installed on a fresh install.
So here's what I'm wondering: Anyone encounter this before?
Are savegames transferrable between installations?
Are there any savegame editors out there that allow editing story variables?
e: Ah well, I tried reinstalling using the 4CD version. The bug remained and by doing that I introduced a new one in the shop of curiosities (game hangs while entering), which was not cured by removing the 2 .wed files. Guess it's back to the bin with PS:T.

I played the brand new one disc version (available on Amazon) and I experienced problems in the two areas you mention - though luckily not bad enough to end the game.
1. When entering Mebbeth's house my characters would freeze and not respond to any actions, or, if they did, Mebbeth would then ignore them, no matter how many times I clicked on her. Luckily this was solved by a quick reload (so I got used to saving outside her house).
2. I got huge amounts of lag inside the art museum. Although the game always felt like it was going to crash at some point in here, luckily it never did, but it sure dented my enjoyment of that great room and discouraged me from going in there.
I suspect, from this, that these areas require certain spec specifics from your PC which are quite randomly attainable from PC to PC. I always assume it's a CPU issue when it happens to me as my system is quite old, but if it happens to newer PCs then it's probably a bit deeper than that.
I'd be interested to know the cause of the glitches in these two areas also.

I have to say that even with my e8400 the game did feel a bit choppy when running it at 1920x1200, so it might be that those areas do need a lot of oomph for some reason. It would be weird if a 3GHz dual core processor wouldn't be able to run an 11-year-old game though.
I failed to mention in my description of the gallery bug that the game also crashes when I walk past Yvana without talking to her.
Mebbeth's house doesn't actually crash at first, but once it does, it doesn't stop (this means that it is not the fault of a memory leak).
