Alternate Method for Obtaining Demon Key

Again to all who didn't manage to "magically" re-insert the
(indeed "demonic") demon key into their inventory
by the help of the program called "Hedit"
(to download it, just go to Google
and type in "download Hedit" and click your way
through a lot of ads and other wrong buttons - often, there's
a button "TO THE DOWNLOAD" which will lead to the desired
file and not to other downloads confusingly advertised in the
same page):

Go to the beginning of this thread. Re-read the first page of it.

Inside of Hedit, remember to search for WORDS in TEXT mode
and for HEX CODES in HEX mode. When you use the option
"search", TWO fields will pop up. The UPPER one is for TEXT
and the LOWER one for HEX CODES.

So, in the upper field, you type in your character's name (displayed
in the upper left corner in the Dungeon-Lords-game), and after
you found the name, and went on to the THIRD appearance of
that name (use "search next" twice and don't care if the bar on
the right will not go down according to where you are in the
savegame, in Hedit 1.0, that won't happen, but it works fine,
just know that evrytime you use "search next", you're at the next
appearance of that name without it being properly displayed by the
window of Hedit),

search for the hex code of the demon key which is 3B01 in my memory
which hopefully isn't affected by too much of that other stuff than tobacco...

... search for that 3B01 in HEX MODE which means:

type in 3B01 in the LOWER blank field of the "search" field in Hedit.

I've been trying to follow the steps posted on here. I downloaded the HEdit program and the one thing that confuses me is that I'm suppose to do a text search for the 3rd occurance of my characters name. I did that and then did a hex search next to find either the sewer key or the sewer bridge key I tried replacing the 9A00 with 3B01 and still didn't have the key. So I read how one guy used the code for the sewer bridge key 9B00 so I tried replacing that one instead and still no Demon Key. The one thing that I'm uncertin of is one person says do a text search from the start of the file till you find the 3rd occurance and another says press f3 2 times or untill you get the Data was not found message and then do the hex search. One the other hand I did a all out hex search for the code 9A00 and 9B00 and found so many instances that I get lost. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong at this point. I guess my main question is when searching for the characters name do you count the very first one which seems to be the text info the games shows as you name inside the game. Please in much need of help. I'm trying to see if I can do this with the key first before I try giving myself either Dried Homonculus or Deathlord leggins or the deathlord belt I have all the rest of the armor just missing them items to make a complete suit. I just replayed Dungeon Lords and answer this for evryone here:

I tried it again with the demon key (version 1.4, german) - it's NOT the third but the FOURTH instance of your character's name where you should look for the Hex-Code of 9A00 or 9B00 or 9C00 and replace that with the hex-code for the demon key 3B01.

And DONT get confused because of many instances of your character name in the savegame while using a hex-editor. It IS important in which instance you edit things.

Hi, I also forgot the Demon key in Naga temple. So I download the game editor to get it. it worked, I killed the demon but only then I realized that using to the game editor to get the demon key made me lost few levels. I was level 13 and after killing the demon I was level 10 insted of 15. I tried to ad the experience I should now have to my game with game editor but every time I try to do so it doesn't work.

I had 4290563

I had 143127 after using game editor to get the demon key

the demon gives 1469696 xp I think

so I load my character and I give him 4290563 + 1469696xp wich is 5760259, then I save. Then I load it back and I now have only like 1625328 xp

nevermind, I tried with another game editor and everything is fine. the only thing is, with all the changing numbers its hard to calculat how many advance point im supose to have now..

Please for the love of all things magical can someone help me edit a save game??? I need the demon key and have downloaded two different hex editors but can't figure out how to use them... Please....
