The lowest possible level?

Post by Tricky »

Considering I have been wanting to play as a stealthy infiltrator, I was thinking about this issue a little while ago. Simple kills give more exp as your level gets higher, but certain other special creatures such as the creature you face inside the Onderon palace are a different matter. They give progressively less XP as you level up.

I think Obsidian did this to ensure both good and bad players wouldn't end up with too great a difference in level. I'm not sure how it works out in practise though, I never tested it to the limit. Has anyone here ever tried to play a full-stealth character, avoiding combat where possible?

The minimum level to move on to a prestige class doesn't change though. It might even be possible to complete the game before reaching that level? I honestly don't know.

I've not tried going full stealth, but I have a feeling that by avoiding killing things you are in the end going to end up not getting as much XP as you otherwise would. While it might give you more for killing something later, it still won't be as much as if you killed something now and it later.

I'm sure you won't go up as high and I'm not sure how effective it would be in the more pivotal, Jedi based battles in the game. Without making use of the EXP bug in the Korriban tomb, usually 25-28 is the range I end up at with my character. I have a feeling if I didn't go through the game rampaging my enemies, I would not have done as well.

Plus, I'm not sure there's too many cases where sneaking by enemies is an option. Many fights in the game seem oriented around cut scenes or something similar where the enemy MUST be defeated for you to do something. If you do give this a try and come back, please do tell us how it worked out for you!
