DA2: Using tomes?

Post by GawainBS »

I picked up the tomes from my home, but I'm not sure how they get used. Automaticly? I didn't notice any extra ability points, nor do I see any way to reset my build.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

any tomes/potions with a permanent effect that can only be used by Hawke (including the promotional ones) are automatically used when looted
any tomes/potions that can be used by Hawke or a companion have to be used manually

you can reset your build using a potion bought from the black market

I got a message saying I got such a tome to reset my talents. Where can I find that?
I also got a message I got a stat increasing tome, and one that give an extra skill point. I also got a level up when opening my chest with the tomes. (No, not the "level up" from the bonus points, but one earned via XP, since my companions leveled with me.) However, I only got 5 attribute points (probably including the tome), but only 1 skill point.

Did anyone figure out what "Of Things not Lost" (the Third Tome) did? The other 2 were experience and gold...

I think 'Of things not lost' is the tome that allows you to reset your attributes and talents. If you have the Black Emporium DLC you can go there and they sell a lot of them. I used one to respec Anders more to my liking, also handy if you need a rogue with high cunning to open chests, but would rather have high dexterity for fights!
