Hello,
I am new to Icewind dale, just started but found that I cannot load save games, every time I attempt to load a game it kicks me to the beginning of the prolog, has anyone had that problem? I am running it in windows 7, have had no problems running baldur's gate 1 and 2

Welcome to GB Hadrian,
I am running XP so I'm clueless with Win7. Since you can run both BG games, I would "think" you should be able to run IWD. Had a thought, first have you installed "just" IWD1 and not the expansions (Heart of Winter & Trials of the Luremaster). Heart of Winter comes with most IWD1 packaged sets these days. HoW has patches that automatically load when installed. TotL is only available by download, but IIRC, it also has a patch included. If you have HoW and haven't installed it, give that a try. If you don't, try downloading the patches (should be some links to them on the IWD game page here in GameBanshee) and installing them.

UNCOMMON VALOR WAS A COMMON VIRTUE
Don't forget to wipe the registry after uninstalling, and as kmonster pointed out - Don't use Program Files at Windows 7.
Running it as an admin is often also required to create files, such as save games.
Should that still not do the trick, try different compatibility modes.
