Hellgate London rings a bell,that was something disgusting.

I remember playing 1 of the Dungeon Sieges too(I dont know that it was 2 or 1) and as I recall it was horribad(but this was somewhere after BG2 so I had high expectations in those days....)

The Rise of the Argonauts(basically Dragon Age 2 with better graphics somewhere in the ancient Greece)

Dragon Age 2(it is not a bad game but I wouldnt call it an RPG...according to Steam it is action/adventure:laugh :)

Silverfall

Last Remnant(my first japanese RPG....and the last)

The worst expansion I played was the first NWN expansion Shadows of Uldembril or Uldrathar(or what).

Oh and avoid the 1C company titles at all costs.

Hmm, can't really think of any rpg that I didn't enjoy on some level, but the worst of all the rpgs I have played is probably Soulbringer, I can't really remember what I hated so much about it, I liked the atmosphere allot, but the rest is pretty much blocked from my memories.

These are the ones I remember. They were all huge let downs for me because they turned out so differently "bad" from what I was expecting/hoping.

Worst I have played are:

Temple of Elemental Evil - I really hated the turn-based combat.
The Summoner - not worth the CD-ROM it came on.
Restricted Area - a truly awful Diablo Clone that will make your eyes bleed through sheer boredom.
Fallout 3 - I just gave up after I was able to max out all my stats, while exploring was kinda fun - it got repetative really quickly.
Vanilla Oblivion - was okay for a first playthrough. The game gave you so much freedom - but at the cost of any real choice and consequences. All the things it does well are superficial.
Vanilla Baldur's Gate - by the time I got round to playing Baldurs Gate (2004ish) the engine just seemed so clunky (due in part to the D&D ruleset it used), with modding however the game is awesome.
Two Worlds - awful combat mechanics and truly terrible voice acting.
Two wrongs don't make a right... but three lefts do!

If beauty is in the eye of the bee-holder, then why are hives considered unattractive features?

It's funny that very few people here mention this game but seem to have fond memories of its sequel. Kind of similar to Fallout 2 where it is mentioned and praised a lot here whereas the original fell into the wayside. :p

1) Might & Magic IX - totally killed excellent series

2) Icewind Dale 2 - 3x times started, 3x times got bored somewhere in chapter 5 and stopped playing ( BG's and IWD1 forever thou )

3) Oblivion - mostly because stereotype dungeons and bad AI of enemies

4) Fallout 3 - same as oblivion

5) Dragon Age - finished it, but very dissapointed ( liked Morrigan and Alistair characters )

6) Summoner - as someone said already, 100% trash. Not even worth of an RPG title. Better fits to the top of the list, but that would be a lack of drama.

7) A full wooden chest of RPG's i deleted from my memory, because they were so bad.

How can someone dislike Fallout? 1 and 2 are real RpG and are mythicals
..3 and 4 are more action games but absolutely not bad..
I give gold medal of the worst game to Diablo, the father of all the garbage we've seen after it..
Say goodbye to D&D rules... :mad:

I don't like the interface, far too clunky, also F1 seems to be more of a guessing game than a Role Playing Game. Not in the worst category by a long shot, but it is going to be a game I come nowhere near finishing. I haven't tried F2 yet.

TESIII Morrowind - It is very hard for me to figure it out what to do in Morrowind, and it's frustrating, and I like Oblivion better.

I've never played any worst RPG ever, but I found any RPG flash game that is crappy. Like the worst RPG flash games is "Super Press Space To Win Action RPG" from Newgrounds, now that is the stupidest RPG I ever played, all you do was hitting the spacebar, and if you don't hit the spacebar, then the animation stops until you have to press the spacebar, and you can't die, and IT'S NOT EVEN A GAME.

So that's it.

For me, It's anything that Bethesda has touched. Elder Scroll games and Fallout 3. They are all such vast yet incredibly shallow games. My favorite parts of RPGs are the writing, dialogue, and story... and Bethesda throws all that to the wayside and focuses on a sandbox world. It might be fun for some people. But it just makes me feel empty inside.

I agree with Thaddeus.

While I don't mind games that consist of a lot of text to read; such as BG series, PS:T etc., Morrowind is not especially well written - for the amount of crap it expects you to read - and Oblivion while equally badly written, covers up it's sins by distracting you with crappy voice acting instead. For me, Morrowind asked for too much patience on my part - everything takes far too long, it is very easy to get lost - although the world itself is a pleasure to get lost in and the combat is pretty uninspiring.

But for the most part the dedicated community of modders for Morrowind have made the game a better experience, much as they have done for Oblivion.

I've played a lot of RPGs but very few made long lasting impressions, and most of those that did were positive. usually if a game doesn't manage to hold my interest I'll just push it aside in favour of another and forget about it. so my list of bad RPGs will be pretty short, and isn't necersarily entirely accurate, it's just the ones that managed a long lasting negative impression. there's probably worse that I played but just gave up on soon enough to not remember them very well

Oblivion - to be fair a large part of this is due to my high expectations coming from Morrowind. Oblivion managed to take all the best parts of Morrowind, throw most of them away and replace them with awful ideas. some of them did sound like good ideas at first... every NPC being voiced and varied (end result, there's very few NPCs and they all have the same annoying voices), mini-games (ranged from slightly annoying to downright ridiculous), fast travel (killed off exploration completely since every dungeon was the same and running off exploring just resulted in low FPS due to oblivion gates)... the main quest was also incredibly clichéd and extremely predictable. it didn't help that Tiber Septim himself shows up towards the end of Morrowind and gives away the ending of Oblivion yet they still try to pass it off as a surprising twist ending

Dragon Age 2 - another disappointing sequel, and again a large part of it due to an absolute and unforgivable failure to live up to it's predecessor. whether it truly is an RPG is debatable, but to be fair there's debate over most games that fall under RPG, but the worst things about the game largely come down to how badly rushed it was. on the first playthrough it doesn't seem so bad, nowhere near as good as Origins, but a fairly decent game. second playthrough though you realise that all those decisions you were looking forward to trying differently in other playthroughs... well they're all false choices. the game has next to zero replay value which is especially bad in a game so short

my first impressions were rather more favourable in large part because of the implied replay value, which it turned out was false. I still consider it to be a decent game, but certainly nothing special, and when weighed against it's predecessor it looks very bad in comparison. I'll be keeping an eye on the DLC, I don't have high hopes since even the Origins DLC wasn't too special (some were enjoyable, some not) but just in case... at lease BioWare's comments on their own forums imply that they're taking all the criticisms into account even if they won't admit to them for marketing reasons ("yeah our game kinda sucks" doesn't sell a lot of games... until you're ready to release the sequel and can say "yeah our last game kinda sucks but look at how we fixed that with this one" kind of like "this product will remove ANY STAINS! until we release another one which we'll say removes ANY STAINS EVEN THOSE THE PREVIOUS ONE COULDN'T DESPITE US SAYING IT COULD!")

I should also clarify that I don't consider DA2 to be one of the worst games just one of the worst RPGs. I do believe the RPG genre can survive the direction it's heading in these days but not with half-arsed rushed projects like DA2. and regardless of how well the genre shift works, I will still miss the old style RPGs

This is very difficult to answer.

I think someone's already said it, but I'll say it again anyway, the main problem with this topic is that for a game to be THAT bad one would probably have turned it off and deleted it before it even had a chance to lodge in one's memory.

I've bought countless games over the years I have no recollection of in any way other than 'that game I bought that didn't work or I didn't get the hang of so I sold it back to the resale shop' or similar.

It seems unfair to list any that I can remember the titles of as this would do them less justice than the ones that didn't even qualify for memory space.

I tried one of the Heroes of Might and Magic games once. That lasted about 10 minutes on my hard drive. I currently have A Farewell To Dragons, but it crashes to desktop so I deleted that after 10 minutes. Morrowind is a first person game, but I can't enjoy first person games, I like the bird's eye view, so that only lasted 30 minutes on my hard drive. Both Sacred and Fable had regenerating monsters, and I can't stand regenerating monsters, so they both lasted until my initial blast session was over then they were deleted. I can't remember if it was Diablo or Balder's Gate, but one of those had regenerating monsters so that went the same way. Fallout just had too much micro-detail and over-fussy inventory management and skill allocation, so goodbye to that (not to mention too much NPC dialogue from NPCs who had no part in the story, though there was no way of telling before you engage them in tedious conversation, oh and the map was freaky weird aswell - but then mine might have been glitched).

The reasons can be many and varied.

But it's for personal taste reasons that people such as myself can really enjoy Neverwinter or Dragon Age.

Bird's eye view - tick
Obvious inventory - tick
Bad guys stay dead - tick
Immediate gratification stat allocation - tick
Doesn't crash - tick

Are they perfect games? No chance, but, for me at least, they do continue the type and style I like, even if they lack the magic of older titles in the same format.

To activate third person view in Morrowind, press Tab once.
The only thing you have to do in first person is spell and marksman targeting, as it's very tricky in third.

It's 3rd person in the very lightest sense. It's nowhere near 360 vision. And as you state, it's not the game's ideal setting.
