Playable Exact Copy of Jon Irenicus?

Post by CaeDares »

Baldur's Gate 2 - Playing as Jon Irenicus - YouTube
As shown in the video, the created Jon Irenicus is exactly the same as show in cutscenes, seeming to cast multiple spells at the same time with no Casting Delay, rounds, nothing. It's spell after spell, nonstop [if you can keep up, that is. ]
Now, I've been wanting to play as Jon Irenicus exactly like that ever since I started Baldur's gate at a very young age. I'm now sixteen, starting this game quite a few years ago, and someone has finally done it.
And what I'm asking, is HOW.
In the video description, he tells of his use of Shadowkeep and Infinity Editor.
Shadowkeeper, to me, is just a simple stat, spell, and equipment modifier for saved characters. As for Infinity Editor, I have absolutely no clue how to work it!
So what I ask now is, is there a save character file with him created like that? Anything?
Or can someone tell me how to create such a character?
I'm really eager to try it, I'm not planning to dash my way through the game with him, just mess around with him, because to me, that is greatly fun, and would definitely put a brilliant smile on my face just to be casting those sort of spells.

Any and all help is appreciated.

He's using a custom character. I guess it would be too much work for you to try replicating it if don't have experience with the modding tools. Better try this mod Spellhold Studios - The Longer Road / Baldur's Gate II Mod

You can get any character to look like Jon Irenicus with the Shadow Keeper.

Simply open a savegame, select the character you wish to change and then go to the appearance tab (I believe it's the 3rd one from left to right) and under that you will have a drop-down box marked "Appearance". You simply have to select "Jon Irenicus" from that drop-down list and then save your modifications and BAM! you've got yourself a Jon Irenicus look-alike.

As for the other stuff...the infinite casting and so forth...I'm afraid it's a bit out of my league.
If it helps, that "keep casting spells one after another" thing sounds like the Improved Alacrity HLA of the mage.
A bit of google-fu turned up this which seems to do exactly what you want, but I haven't had a chance to test it.

Hope this helps.

@Daynov
I'm not exactly sure what your telling me to try out the mod for, to me, it seems to be more of an Expansion for the game...Care to explain a bit more of what the mod IS? I've read through the introduction but I don't completely understand it. Plus i have a mod already installed, and i don't want to take the chance of messing it up if this mod has nothing to do with leading me towards me goal - getting that Irenicus copy [not trying to sound too harsh, here, Sorry if i seem to be]

@vaypah
shsforums.net gives me a 404, I have no idea why. i can not access it at all, but I'll look into the Permanent Improved Alacrity.

Thank you both for posting~
If anybody else can say something about this, please do.
I've already contacted the video owner about the video, but it seems as if the account is abandoned, seeing as last activity was months ago...

With that mod you can acquire Irenicus as an NPC at the end of SoA. I'm just giving you an option if you can't figure out how to do what you originally intended.

I looked into the Permanent Improved Alcarity, and i got nothing. There is not a single page except for what was linked for me in this thread, that has anything to do with PIA, makes me a bit disappointed.

I'm going to look into that mod, but this means I'll have to play through SOA again...

Here's a direct link to the mod files for that permanent IA mod I linked above.

Thank you, Vaypah! The effects of those rings is exactly what I was looking for.
But If I could also find a away to combine multiple spell visuals into one deadly spell, that would be exactly like the spells that Irenicus casts.
I'm not sure what Irenicus has to to penetrate any magic immunities, but it's gotta be possible somehow. Maybe with a pierce magic / dispel effect before the killing effect of the spell? I'm not quite sure if that's even possible; Like I have said, I have no idea how to work infinity editor.

Hi there - I'm the person who made the Irenicus vid you're referring to.
I can help you. If you would like to contact me on my email address, I will send a .RAR file pack containing all that you need. A person on Youtube has even improved on my Irenicus from the vid you see - it is in fact, his files I'll be sending you (I admire him for his patience - he must have spent more time than I did on Infinity Editor).
A readme is also contained within said files.
You may scan the files I send to prove there is no virus etc.

At last I finally meet the main creator of the first full, exact copy of Irenicus.
I thank you for making him as you did, it encouraged me to spend days scouring through the internet, looking for anything that could possibly aid me in accomplishing what you did.
I'll email you immediately.
Thank you so very much, and I hope you improve your version of Irenicus as well.

Well, technically, it's not mine to be sharing. Plus, he told me to Email him for the stuff, so I would guess that it is up to him whether he would like it to be shared or not.

For experts on the various modding tools, this is where you should go if Caedares' understandable reluctance to share another's work is not enough for you.

You should perhaps consider the words of Stworca, the guy with the Tactical Guide, says about Irenicus;
Except for Viconia (huge passive MR) Edwin (the amulet he's wearing) and Sarevok (deathbringer assault) you can make better characters than there are NPCs. Some NPCs added by mods however, are added to the exceptions. The best example here is Valen (many immunities, level drain, awesome scripting), Tashia (her quick slot item) and Jon Irenicus (just take him and you'll see. This character will spoil your fun).
As one who joined Drizzt to my party in my last playthrough of ToSC - The Drizzt Saga I advocate avoiding such characters. They DO spoil your fun.
