Can't Remember The Name of this Game...

Post by bushwhacker2k »

Okay, been searching on google for a general "what game is this?" thing, can't find anything reliable... internet >_>

Anyway, I'm trying to remember the name of a game that I played, but nothing comes to mind.

I think I first discovered it searching for roguelikes, but it isn't really a roguelike in the way that most roguelikes are (ascii or extremely simplistic graphics, turn-based).

-I recall that it was either kind of steampunky or more likely cyberpunky.
-It had an isometric view, similar to diablo.
-there were 2-3 character classes(not absolutely certain but I'm fairly sure)
-lots of loot
-guns as weapons, unsure if melee weapon types existed but guns(possibly futuristic guns) were definitely a weapon type

It's probably a bit more obscure, not the kind of thing I've been able to easily find.

I really don't know where else to ask about finding a specific game, if anyone can direct me to some place that's dedicated to this sort of thing, I'd appreciate it.

Only game I could think of was Restricted Area, but it was pretty crap. Most fights could be resolved by standing in or on the other side of the doorway and using it as a choke point. There were 4 classes in RA, one was melee type, one was a straight up shooter, one was a rogue like hacker with a drone and the other was a bit like a biotic.

Let me know if you find the one you are looking for.

I know of Restricted Area, it's not quite it.

The area I remember from Restricted Area was more post-apocalyptic, whereas this game seems to take place in a more cyberpunky junkyard area.

How about Silverfall?

SWC
Silverfall seems to be primarily located in more of an outdoor area, whereas I remember this game being in a cyberpunky junkyardish area, but it gave an interior feeling, like everything was made of steel.

Also, I believe the isometric viewpoint might be locked, whereas Silverfall's camera can be controlled to some extent. I think you also only control one character.

Probably very unlikely - given that you said there were multiple classes and this game has a fixed protagonist.... but a game that has guns and features cyberpunky junkyard areas makes me think of the beginning of Septerra Core

Not what I was thinking of (also the game I'm looking for isn't turn-based), but I'm going to check this out now :D

A bit of a stretch, but is it Crusader: No Remorse?

Remember playing this game at a friend's house many years ago and it looked pretty cool at that time. Pity he couldn't get through one particular boss fight halfway into the game.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Sorry for the seriously slow response-

Coincidentally I actually got Crusader: No Remorse/Regret on GOG recently but that's not it. The Crusader series is definitely older than what I'm thinking of.

It is actually pretty similar in many respects though, the setting, the isometric viewpoint, gun-based combat...

But I believe the game I'm thinking of was controlled primarily by mouse, rather than keys and Crusader's loot system is a bit more simplistic (outdated, to use a slightly less kind term about it).

Just a guess but I'd say the game I'm thinking of is most likely around early to mid 2000s.
