Killing Lorne

Post by BowandArrow »

I cannot find the nwn2 thread so if someone can move this please post the link. I cannot beat Lorne for the life of me, its been weeks and I rarely pick up and play anymore because it takes so long for the cut scenes to play through before the battle. I choose khelgar, equipped him with health potions and when lorne goes beserk I have khelgar drink the speed potion and let him chase me until beserk is over. Then he ends up killing me anyway! HELP>!>@:speech:

You get told during the Prelude how to beat Lorne. Essentially because he's a frenzied berserker you need to just keep away from him until his frenzy wears off - then strike when he's weakest. It is often easier to beat him as a spellcaster by using area of effect spells (cloud of bewilderment, grease, darkness, acid fog), creature summons and good old fireballs.

For fighter classes: take potions of speed to keep away from him (or potions of invisibility to try and wait him out), rangers can try and hamper his movement with entanglement, rod of the Ghost is useful to make you harder to hit, take cats grace potions to give you added points in dexterity (it is better not to get hit), use Combat Expertise or if it is really good Parry Mode and just run away until he gets tired and attack him with all you have. Use items with a bonus to reflex might help. Lorne is designed to bitchslap tanks!

Fire and Acid Bombs are useful if you can keep him hampered, you can try using tanglefoot bags (though they are pretty crap tbh).

It's been a while but I think he can use frenzy three times. So preparation and repetition are the way through.
Two wrongs don't make a right... but three lefts do!
