Jade Emp; Blocking bug!!

I'm playing the good old Jade Empire, but I'm having problem with a bug I've never encountered before. In combat, my character BLOCKS - all the time, and I'm not even near space bar! She can't walk, she can hardly even attack. This makes battle really difficult. :mad: I've scouted Google for a patch or other solution to this problem, but it came out empty. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm playing via Steam.

Do a complete re-install, including deleting everything afterwars, except savegames?
Make sure gamecontrollers like joypads & joysticks are unplugged.
Ask at the Steam fora, as it might be a Steam-specific bug?
