Inflict Wounds/weapon effect

Post by Tim »

(CE) I've returned to this game after a few year hiatus and run a few characters through to completion. I'd had some of my characters that have the inflict wounds skill and it seems like when I have a burning effect (blade of baal, rune blade, or my currect character who weilds the diamond light greatsword with the magic weapon skill) that I have not noticed the inflict wounds effect. Does anyone know if the inflict effect is active while a target is burning or is it cancelled or simply too complex an animation to show both the inflict and the burn?

Thanks for any thoughts on this

I don't think it works. My Hatamodo didn't seem to get any benefit over nether strike I was using. The damage *might* be working from the bleeding, but I think the staggering is trumped by nether strike.

Another thing I notice is that the rune spell runeblade is worse than damage without runeblade for my dwarf wielding a flaming sword. The damage numbers floating show less damage.

Dungeon lords is a fun game due to the dungeons and fast pace of ccmbat, but it is not a very polished game.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Interestingly enough, one of my recent characters was tooled up for rune combat with inflict wounds. The only real impact of rune blade was that it seemed to nerf my inflict wounds. Was hard to tell if it had much in the way of a damage boost. By comparision blade of baal seems to have a considerable boost and I would guess your flaming effect from your sword was cancelled out by the spell.

Really enjoying the game again, in the last two months I've completed it with 6 characters. Wish I could get my wife into it, last time I was playing a few years ago was with a friend in multiplayer.

Solved my problem with the inflict by equipping a kama in the offhand. So the kama gets the bleed effect and the main weapon causes a burn and I've seen the critters that survive the initial attacks that are both bleeding and burning. I wasn't interested in doing dual weild with this character to start with but it will work for me. Actually attacking a lot faster with the two weapons anyway. Plus if IIRC the blade of death does not have a burn effect and that's my goal anyway. Just got through the naga lair so not much longer to wait.
