ego draconis getting high keys

Post by Floriad »

In chapter one of Ego Draconis, there are at least two instances where a key to a cellar is on a rafter high above my reach. I have tried leaping, moving boxes and barrels to stand on but even so I cannot get the key so I cannot enter the cellars to further the quests. No matter how I move or position the mouse, I cannot get the little golden access icon over the key.
Question: how do I reach or obtain the high key?
BTW, Ego Draconis is one of the tougher games I have ever played in the opening stages. I have looked at Options but I cannot see if I am playing at easy, difficult or deathmarch level.
Thanks for help.

The key on a rafter in the farmhouse in Broken Valley can be gotten by standing on a crate. On 1 crate you can point the crosshairs up and be able to grab the key; 2 crates high (placed there by default) you can look slightly down and get the key, or even jump over onto the rafter.

Are you having trouble getting onto the crate, or selecting the key? If the former, try jumping towards the rafter to block your character if you keep overshooting the crate, or try jumping and moving left or right to get onto the crate, rather than forward or back. If the latter, do you have the crosshairs displayed?

The difficulty level slider is in the Options, Gameplay section (followed by the option to show crosshairs in the centre of the screen). If you don't see the difficulty slider there, exit the game and delete the settings.dv2 file in the folder below. The game will recreate the file the next time it is started, which should restore the difficulty slider.

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Profile

Vista/Win 7:
C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Profile

You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (XP, Vista, Win 7).
