Help with Great Gazib [Spoilers]

Post by Marcius Vetrack »

Hello! I'm in my first playtrough wih BG 1 and 2; I installed the BGT with the BiG World Setup, but not installed any game mods; I only install BGT, BG 2 Fixpack; BG1 and BG2 Unfineshed Business, Infinity Animations, SHS Soundsets, The Big Biff, Widescreen Mod, restored textscreen music, Tobex, several kit mods, the Welverin Sub Race Mod, the Psion Mod and the Pack Mule;

When I go to the Carnival in Nashkel, the wizard Great Gazib turns hostile after the ogre explodes the first time, and atacks me, making me losing rep when I kill him, and making the other people in the Carinval turn hostile too.
I didn't do anything except for talking to him, one time, then he sumons the ogre, he explodes, and after he turns hostile and launches a Lightning Bolt on me; :(
I tried stays far from him, after I talk, but with no result.

Googling it I found no answers, except one post in the Oficial BG EE Forum when the same occours with a player, but the post remains unanswered;

Someone could help?

I can only assume that one of the mods you've installed has messed up the dialog.tlk file, not a lot you can do about that, but fortunately the encounter you have had problems with is an irrelevant one. The mage doesn't drop anything youll need and the xp lost is minimal, just leave the mage alone and pray nothing actually serious goes wrong.

Thanks... I thougth I'd leave it alone anyway... I'll try pickpocket his scrolls tough... hehehehe...

I checked the post in the BG EE fórum, and the only mods that guy and I have in common is the Ktipack and the Rogue Rebalancing, both kit mods... maybe if I remove them... and them reinstall after the encounter... I'll post later if it worked.

Edit: I don't have the Rogue Rebalancing, I have the Rogue Swicht kit; The Kitpack kit that him have installed is diferent of that I have... I think is anohter mod, (the Kitpack that him have installed is the Divine Remix for BG EE), so I don't have any similar mods installed, besides the Divine Remix, with the Brawnem and Viconia alterations for implementing the kits for them... so I don't know what's wrong... So I really should leave the mage alone...

BGT itself could be the prime suspect I think, they probably didn't take as much care as they might have if they were doing it commercially with every aspect of the dialogue. One can't expect people doing stuff like that in their spare time to be perfect, when the so called professionals can't even get it right after x number of patches. I think they did a fantastic job, so I for one can put up with the occasional glitch considering how good a job they did overall.

Weidu itself can also glitch occasionally, but my last sentence stands for that as well.

If it was BGT we'd know about it because it's a fairly popular mod.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

Just tried it out for myself with BGT and had no problems, probably a mod conflict.
