Dear Fable.

Post by CygnusAlgeris »

After reading your little comment in the "spells that weren't included in BG2 section, I debated whether to bother responding to you. Obviously, I've decided to make note of your inflammatory, hypocritical, off the cuff statements. Frankly, the "poor oppressed palestinians" (whom you are referring to in your misinformed little rant) have spat in the face of every treaty, cease-fire, and attempt to create peace that has been delivered to their front door.

For your information, fable, the U.N. established the State of Israel as a haven for the Jewish people. Now, if you want to talk about the Gaza Strip, a quasi-state under the control of the Palestinian Authority, we can get going.

From the CIA Factbook: Population: 1,132,063
note: in addition, there are some 6,500 Israeli settlers in the Gaza Strip (July 2000 est)

By Jesus H. Christ Himself, Six-Thousand-Five-Hundred settlers. That's a whole HALF OF A PERCENT of the population in "Qita Ghazzah." What an invasion force. You're kidding yourself if you think those settlers are a threat to Palestinian independence.

On the right of return: *falls over laughing*
You mean you expect the Israeli government to "give you back" land you SOLD to someone else? Even better, give you land you never owned, never even lived on, merely because your terrorist has a forged document that states: Joe Bob Alibazzah holds the deed and title to the 400 square kiloms at this spot right outside of Tel-Aviv?

Between the corrupt and divisive Palestinian leadership and the bloodthirsty and uneducated Palestinian rabble, somehow Israel takes the blame. I'm guessing it's because of ignorant anti-semites, like yourself, who insinuate this kind of trite maliciousness.

I'd like to give a shoutout to all my Arab Terrorist friends who "ain't heah no moah:"

This creature will then appear in any area wisehd by the caster and will self destruct, dealing 20d12 points of fire and gooey flesh damage to all in a 500 foot radius. This spell can be modified to summon an aerial version called a Japanese Kamikaze Pilot. Care must be taken with this spell seeing as how an Arab Terrorist will self destruct immediately when seeing some form of public transportation (commonly a bus).</STRONG>

There's nothing terribly funny about an entire culture being divested of its property while the nation that took it over deliberately tries to populate that land with as many settlements as possible. My point isn't that this view is exclusively correct, but that "Summon Arab Terrorists" could be seen as a provocative insult to any Arab, anywhere.

If you want to discuss the issue, start up a topic in SYM, down below. Thanks. :) </STRONG>

I hope your opinion of people who disagree with you, is yours alone. To call people 'ignorant anti-semites' just because they disagree with you?

These Arab Terrorist comment gives the impression all Arabs are terrorist. To judge a race of people by what one group does is wrong and disrespectable. I read an article about a Arab boy who was killed and his father decided to let Israeli take body parts and use them to help Israeli own people. With your comment you just slapped this man in the face.

I support Israeli, but I don't support you and your comments. I guess in your opinion I'm a 'ignorant anti-semites' too.

I sit here in America and see the bloodshed on the 'Holy ground' and wonder, what will it take for this to end, one side wiping out the other?

@Weasel, it's not worth replying. Our 5-posts-in-all guest seems to be under the impression that this is a forum that allows arrant flaming. I think it's fair to say that he's going to be proved wrong by the moderators.

For the rest, I'll only mention that nearly half my family, the non-Jewish half, was wiped out by Stalin, while the Jewish half was wiped out by Hitler. (All except for a few who escaped to the US, and a cousin of my grandmother who was taken into slavery and sent to Germany. She was never heard from, again.) Yep, Ukrainia was like that. You were popular on both sides of the aisle.

It's rather sad that I can see the human faces behind the conflict, though touched by war, while some kid whose only experience of war or bigotry has been absorbing rhetoric from others lashes out in hate. But it's always the ones who live in security that puff out their chest and curse the most.

@Fable I know, I just can't help myself. I believe flaming topics draw me to them. :(

I don't agree with you at all that the Palestines have broken the cease fire treaties more often than the Israeli, but yours and mine interpretation of the peace process in one thing.
Another thing is that you are making a personal attack on another user at this board, which is not only unpleasant for everybody and disrespectful to this member, it's also violating the forum rules here.

You seem unaware of the facts that:
A: The 24 areas of Israeli settlements where these 6500 people live, take up and unproportionially large area. Also, these 24 settlements are not only defended by army force, Israeli soldiers attack civil Palestinias. If you read the peace treaties it's clearly stated that Israeli army forces should have been withdrawn long ago.
B: The Gaza strip, Westbank and several other areas now occupied by Israel, were not part of the original agreement. Israel took those areas by weapen force during the 6-day war in 1967. Israel expanded and occupied areas that were parts of Jordan, Syria and Egypt.

The Palestinians had lived in the area formely known as British Mandate Palestine for thousands of years. And as I said above, Israel expanded the area in the 1967 war.

Your last statement includes both racist remarks about Palestinians, and unfounded accusations against Fable. FYI Cygnus, I am going to report this post as a Forum violation, and ask to have it deleted.

@ Fable

I apologise for the actions of this guy as he is obviously unaware of the fact that the post was not intendeded to be serious and was infact not even posted by you. I hope that you can understand that this is not the majority of people who write like this and is infact a tiny minority. I hope you do not judge us on this idiots actions, as a whole I believe the forum strongly respects your opinions.

@ Cygnus

Are you some kind of flagrant flamer? Please in the future read the posts and do not make a fool out of your self by posting a complaint at the wrong person.

@ C Elegans

I would rather you did more than post this as a forum violation and have it deleted. Obviously he has not read the rules and therefore cannot judge other people.

As someone of partial Jewish decent myself I do have a connection to whole Israel clash (regardless of my personal wish to keep clear of the issue). But flames are not the way to go Cygnus, nor are counter-flames on behalf of our more established posters (just a forewarning, since you guys seem to be on your better behavior). I believe we’re all intelligent people here who can discuss issues with both candor and respect (I don’t feel the two are mutually exclusive). If something's bothering you Cygnus, we can talk about it without loosing our tempers. I'm always glad to see new posters, even if they do get off to a rocky start.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

@Kayless, I don't expect a response or an apology. Cygnus' obvious purpose wasn't to communicate, but to lash out and hurt as heavily as possible. He disrespects the rules of the board, and has evidently never bothered to read any other posts of mine which would help shed light on my own views towards others.

If he'd operated under more than a head of steam, he would have realized that I wasn't embracing "Position A," but explaining that proceeding from Position A would lead to being extremely offended by Rodo's attempt at humor which laughs at the loss of life, and a desire for a homeland. I don't like seeing that kind of thing, hence my response.

In fact, the mess in Israel/Palestine isn't going to go away without both sides honestly calling their leaders to heel, and facing up to the need for the other side to leave the peace table with dignity and self-respect intact. Israel has not lived up to its obligations under either the original UN charter for the state or Camp David--fact, not opinion. The Palestinian authorities have not devolved power to their constituency, and treat their revived homeland like a private fiefdom--fact, not opinion. Both leaders, despite their protestations, have a vested interest with their constituencies in maintaining the current level of violence: Sharon, because he won on the single issue of demonizing the Palestinians, and Arafat because the Intafada takes the pressure off his need to loosen the reins of power.

People who demonize in anger like Cygnus or trivialize in ridicule like Rodo of course assume anybody who doesn't feel like them is "of the enemy," so whatever harm they provide is good: calling me an "anti-semite" is only one of the sick things in the post that started off this topic. And the truly sad thing is, there's no enemy, except in those who refuse to open their minds, on all sides of any issue.

@Cygnus, this kind of behavior will not be tolerated on this board. You have the right to your own opinion, but I would ask you to refrain from posting such opinions on this forum. We try to keep this forum a civil place, where each individual should feel welcome. Your post goes against that principale.

@All, I am closing this topic. I have considered deleting Cygnus' post, but others have already quoted it. I am really against deleting an entire topic.

Please don't let this escalate into an all out flame war...

Yours truly,
