I'm definitly seeing the LotR Movies. I already own the books, plus the animated movies Image Plus, I hope Square finally gets off their asses and makes the FF movie, like they've promising they would've for years...

Aegis & Gruntboy: I went to see Titanic twice... and I have it on video... And I'm still wondering how this happened. It's got nice special effects and to see it once, the story's okay... But somehow I got carried along by the big media-hype and now I'm wondering how... And I don't like Leo one bit. So that can't be it either...

Aegis: Am waiting for the FF movie eagerly too... If it ever comes...

Waverly: Nice quote...

Titanic: When I went to see this movie, there was a long line waiting to buy tickets. While I was waiting, this guy up ahead was talking with some of his friends further in line. He made the same crack about why should he be forced to see this movie when the ship sinks at the end. His girlfriend smacks him and yells, "I wanted to see this movie, don't tell me the ending! How do you know the boat sinks?"

FF movie: I think that is supposed to be out sometime this spring.

you know when you go to the pictures and you've read somewhere what happens at the end and that kind of spoils it for you? well thats what i waslike with titanic. i mean 2hrs of fluff before the boat actually sinks?! purrlease. more contributing factors to why i thought titanic was not the best include:

1) first time i went to see it with my exboyf (not the recent exboyf- another one) i had a bit of a cry (as girls tend to) at the end he turns round to me and looks at my puffy cheeks and tearstained complexion and says, 'i can't believe you fell asleep.' not really the king of perception...

2) 2nd time i went with all my mates. unfortunately i was not moved to tears at all, found it all v funny and then realised all my friends were in buckets while i was laughing.

3) i never really got the leo thing. the nasty fiance bloke (was he the one out of gladiator) definitely did it for me more.

so ends the titanic-bashing.

The guy can't write, and if the books ain't any good, how could the movie be?

Foul.... Run..... Thats all I can say.... You have trashed Tolkien. I am going to now hunt you down.... I can dispose of your body.... Easily.... If that was a joke though, still run.... Tolkien is my influence, and my literary Hero. He was the one who inspired me to write. That fact that he can think of enough descriptions for one tree (don't laugh) is amazing. His mind was a swirling mass of ideals, inspiration, and creativity! Let's put it this way, he wrote such an amazing piece of english literature, he went insane shortly afterwards! He was so deep into his own world, he beagn thinking he was part of Middle Earth! If that doesn't say true genious, I don't what does...

There are very few things that cause me to react like this in life... You just stepped on one of them....

Yes. It was. Fortunately my laughter was drowned out by everyone elses. Image

FF Movie: Saw the trailer. It's all computer animation. It's kinda like the movies in FF8, but much better. When I first saw the trailer, it took me a few minutes to figure out it was all computer generated. Those folks really know what they are doing.

LOTR: I plan on doing the same thing I did when Star Wars 1 came out. I'm doing my best not to see any trailers, read any articles, or listen to hype about it. That way I won't expect too much out of the movie. I just hope it's good enough to revive some interest in the fantasy movie genre.

I would like to point out that Waverly the Seer predicted this. Image Image

@Aegis: Tolkein never went insane. He may have always been an eccentric, but that's all.

This a link to the trailer for FF movie.

Be prepared to spend some time for it to load up.....It took me awhile with a cable modem.

Actually, Waverly, shortly after Tolkien finished writing the LotR series, I think about four years after, he was commited to an asylum. He was commited because he thought he was actually liveing in Middle Earth. Or something along those lines. The same is with a lot of writiers who write literature as greta as Tolkiens. It happend with Lewis Carol, and the person who wrote Gormenghaste (Though, the one who did write that, went insane shortly through the story) Not quite why it happens, but it does... Oh well...

Aegis: Could you tell me where that info comes from? It would be news to me. To my knowledge he continued to teach, write, and publish until his wife's death in the late sixties.

Ronald Ruels account was blisteringly inaccurate:

"Blah, blah, blah, and the volcano erupted and Sauron was overthrown, and lo! a grey mist rose over the mountains and was swept away and all the midget children were born golden-haired, and Smaug is dead, blah, blah."

What really occurred was as the Pelennor Fields were cleared after the battle, I rose up from mine slumber, for I only slept, and was not slain, for no living man may slay me, and “Eowyn“ was really Eomer in drag. I then threw down Gondor, Utumno and all of the lands of Middle-Earth, and made them my thralldom.
