Your Party
Your Party
I am just curious about the preferances other people take when making a party...
I go with:
Me (palidin)
Ajantis
Minsc (+ boo)
Kivan
Imoen
Dynaheir
one thing BG (AND bg2 for that matter) is lacking in is the amount of non-specialised mages (especialy good aligned ones), loads of clerics and theives but ... the mage misses out.
Dynaheir does for me though .

My party was:
fighter lvl 6 / cleric lvl 7+
imoen thief lvl 5 / mage invoker, small bow
dynaheir conjurer ( together they can cast every spell)
coran long bow of markmanship
Khalid , schmithar + 5 defender
Minsc, long bow of markmanship
That makes it:
2 mages
1 cleric
3 arrow launchers
2 tanks
2 thieves
Perfect party.
I could trade Minsc for Kivan or Ajantis
but he's loyal. Kivan leaves you if you kick him and want him back.
And an other thing. Dont bother about killing drizzt with loads of potions and stuff. Just use a cleric level 5+ and surround him with 6 skeletons, when you have slaughtered the gnolls, he won't harm them because he is going after the nearest NPC but that's impossible because he's surrounded by skeletons that will kill him slowly. dont use any monster summoning because they will dissapear before he is dead. that's all folks now I will make some spaghetti and köttfärssås as we say in sweden.

I did the game with
PC : Fighter originally to be dualled to Mage at 7th level , but I changed my mind and dualled it to Thief at 6th level
(He's now 23rd level in BG2 )
Imoen ; I dualled her to Illusionist at 7th level way before BG2 came out !! I was very glad the designers did the same !!
Minsc - Tank...
Had Dynaheir for a time, but she was killed in the Spider's Lair and I was not able to raise her at that time - RIP ...
Once again this was before BG2 was released, I sometimes think that Bioware surveyed my game ...
For a time I also had Ajantis the paladin but he was killed by Ankhegs... RIP too !
Coran - Machinegunner
Branwen - Healer, and hard hitter when we found the Ogre gauntlets...
I took Quayle in Chapter 6 to complete my group, for the fun of the Cleric/mage multi...
They got through TotSC without much problems, Sarevok was easy as pie in the end...

my party had the following
PC - Ranger
Minsc
Ajantis
Branwen
Imoen
Dynaheir
This was your typical AD&D party, crush everything in your path; fireball then send in the tanks to clean up.
second time through
PC - Druid
Jaheira
Garrick
Coran
Imoen (dualed to mage at level 5)
Xan
The second time through was a lot more fun although the last quarter of the game resulted in Coran and Imoen backstabbing everything in sight.
Cool trick although I'm sure everyone has done it. Place Imoen on one side and Coran on the other. Backstab with Coran; if the monster is not dead he turns to face Coran only to be backstabbed by Imoen.
The whole process might be considered mild cheddar but it was so fun sneaking those two around all the time. Coran backstabbing with the long sword +2 and then switching to the two handed sword +3 just makes him an awesome weapon.

Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.
Sometimes with the BG2 party and sometimes with:
Imoen -> Alora (when I reach Baldur's Gate)
Ajantis
Branwen
Kivan
Xan

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

My party- 1 thief, 1-mage. no clerics. 4 warriors:
Me(dwarven or halfing fighter)
Kivan (archer)
Shar-teel (love having women in my party)
Kagain (2 dwarves= unstoppable)
Safana (prefer women)
Edwin (da best of da best)
Even though kivan is the only good aligned character in the neutral/evil party, he does fine.
