Stuck and BG Bridge!!

Post by bigp3rm »

I can't get into BG. The guard says the city is closed. I read a post where there should be some guy at the entrance that asks if I'm the one causing all the trouble. And if you say yes he will let you in. But I have been playing good characters and didn't see this person. Please help with some info! You ever been stuck in a game??? It SUCKS! :D

In what chapter are you at?

To be able to enter into BG, you must be on chapter 5 (?), by openning a chest inside a tent in the bandit camp.
Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...

I thought to get into Baldur's Gate you had to clear out the Cloakwood Mines(?).

And, yes, I have been stuck before. I spent at least a week just trying to find the Bandit Camp. :o

In order to get into the city you should have visited Bandit Camp first and cleared the Cloakwood mines after that. As soon as you have finished your business to the mines, go to the city gates and the guy should be there.

At least that's the right order of the events in the game, I think.

Cheers

IIRC, after you get through cloakwood mines, you can enter Baldur's Gate; but that guy doesn't appear until after a later event in another town.

That's the ticket. Although you can get to the bandit camp without killing Tranzig, he makes life much easier for you. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Tranzig is mentioned in one the scrolls picked off of mulahey's dead body. Not trying to be snobbish but if you missed this, I'd recommend takes notes after entering the city of baldur's gate. It's huge and there's a ton to do. It will be difficult to keep track of everything. I know the journal should keep track of most items but it is so tedious scrolling back and forth. BG2 is so nice that you can annotate your journal.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I've gone through BG1 just once.
