Time of troubles

Post by Morlock »

could anyone post info on it? when was it? How long was it? the only references to it that I have seen are in BG2- in which it plays a pretty small part in the actual game and in R.A Salvatore books in which it starts and finishes within about half a book- which makes me think that it was pretty short.
How wide spread is it in the Forgotten realms mytholagy? Where else have you heard of it?

morlock, the time of troubles was a huge realms shaking event. its covered in the avater trilogy (shadowdale, tantras and waterdeep), also in the shadowof the avatar trilogy ( shadows of doom, cloak of shadows, and all shadows fled). the avater trilogy also has two sequels, prince of lies and crubile:the trial of cyric the mad.

to be honest, i havnt read the shadow novels, yet, but the avater trilogy is fantastic, and deals with it all in great depth. i can give an overview, but it would mean spoiling a great read for you.

my advise is to get the books

I second the motion.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

I started reading the avatar trilogy, but found it rather dull, and quite about four chapters in. I'm currently wokring on the Elmister trilogy, but still prefer Salvatore over Greenwood.

The Time Of Troubles happened in 1358 DR, the Year of Shadows.
The Avatar trilogy occurs from Kythorn 1 to Marpenoth 15 or in Gregorian calendar terms, June 1 to October 15, about 4 and a half months so I guess it is pretty short.
For more information you should probably take the advice of Kenny and Ned, I haven't read it myself.
