fighter-ranger-barbarian..
holy ****..
Cobbler Orcbreaker, for your question about Zak'Nafein..
Zak'Nafein Do'Urden is the best swordsman Menzoberranzan had ever witnessed. HE is a 25th lvl fighter using 2 long sword+5's and a drow chain mail+4. he had %98 magic resistance(thats why he was sent to assassinate the high priestesses of other houses when House Do'Urden attacked another house.). BTW, u can calculate any drow's MR by this formula: %50 base MR when born,+2 per lvl..
he was sacrificed to Lolth by Drizzt's mother to compensate for the things Drizzt did.(saved a surface elfs life on a raid to the surface by dark elves). The Undead Zak as some other guy posted, did not carry a spirit and did not tire etc.
The real Zak was Drizzt's mentor and he bested him in battle prowess before he was sacrificed.
Jarlaxle explains to Entreri in the final book of the series, Servant of the Shard, thta Zak once told him that there was one guy now in Menzoberranzan who in time might be better then him in terms of swordsmanship.
sure he was talking about his son, Drizzt Do'Urden.
in my personal opinion, with %98 MR and -3 thaco(dont think of baldurs gate wise, in real AD&D i thikn -3 is powerful) Zak cant simply be bested in swordsmanship =]

It is a little odd, but bear in mind that Drizzt spent over a decade wandering the underdark alone, so having a little barbarism is understandable. Not to mention that being a barbarian gives Drizzt some logical abilities; or, at least it would if they'd divided up the levels better. Personally, I think 12/2/3 works much better than 10/1/5. The second barbarian level would prevent him from ever being caught flat-footed, the extra two fighter levels would garner another feat, and the loss of two ranger levels would do virtually nothing. Drizzt never casts druidic spells in Salvatore's novels, so I think it's safe to assume he's relatively inexperienced in true rangerism.Originally posted by Mielikki:

Beyond that, it's a little ridiculous for the author to limit Drizzt based on such rigid NPC rules outlined in the DMG. Drizzt is not your typical NPC, nor is Elminster, or Lady Alustriel. I think it's a shame that Drizzt's fate lies in the hands of such rule-mongers. Oh well.

agreed man, as u explained aboce maybe it wont hurt his abilities that much (stealth etc.) but what i donot understand is in 2 months why change his stats (leave stats, classes!) twice.
he spent about 10 years in the underdark becoming the "hunter" what he calls, which is very close to the "rage" of the barbarian. maybe as u said this period of his life made his creators think that he should have barb thingy. but after he came to surface and met the blind ranger, he became the hunter only twice (from what i remember in the book). but still... that is not something he does "once a week" or u know...
anyways he just have to accept what is put in front of us and i guess i should stop whining now.
TheHellion, thanx again man for pointing out the new stats..
