Gylderon is the son of the elven prince, Grael Mircast. Like his father, Gylderon was trained by the best elven fencers and the best elven magi to be an extremely adept fighter-mage. Although he renounced his claim to the throne,Gylderon is still the heir to the throne of Moondeep. He is extremely dexterous, even for an elf, he can take blows and deliver them with little obstruction. He left Moondeep before his training in the arcane arts finished but by normal rights, Gylderon would be considered an extremely adept mage...he is no party leader and quite the loner. His dark menacing vioce often betrays his somewhat dark, ironjawed demeanor. He helps peasants and beggars frequently, and has established several shelters for the poor in the outskirts surrounding Athkatla. Gylderon wields the long sword Lier, a drow long sword whose enchantment's protect it from disintegrating upon the touch of the sun; and the long sword Aren, whose touch is chilling to all.

@Arcane: You're going with the assassin, then? Though isn't he a bit young? I'm no expert on elven aging, but I think 56 would be around 15 in human years, give or take a few years. BTW, if you didn't know already, the story isn't taking place in Athkatla this time.
Oh, and thanks for the shameless brown nosing But I'm just a writer this time

weird...i read one of the forgotten realms books that drizzt started adventuring at 56 (not as the ranger, probably with some drow, im not sure of this yet but i read it)...so i thought he must've been like 18 or 19...any ways, if 56 wont work, try 68...my assasin uses short swords and short bows
I live in rome so rping might be a pain in the butt...ill try though thanks
Oh all compliments to all the Athkatla participants...it kicks ass!!!!!!!!!

I'm basing my aging estimate on a book I read about Kith-Kithan and Sithas, princes of the Elven race. It said something about a coming of age ritual at around 90. I would guess that to be around 19 in human years. But, come to think of it, wasn't that a Dragonlance book? So I could be completely off... Then again, the drow are a very warlike race, so adventuring might just begin at a very early age for them.

I'm not sure whether or not I want to join the RP, but I do have a comment having to do with elven aging. I certainly don't claim to be an expert, but in the RPGs I do with my friends on AIM, I often have had elven chars. I figure their aging as starting off only somewhat slower than human aging, then slowing down as they get older, also going with the way things occur in the Forgotten Realms books I've read(specifically by Salvatore and Cunningham). IIRC, a Drow female in Menzobarrenzan had to start attending Arachni-Tirith by the time she reached puberty or the age of 25, whichever came first. that suggests that the elf in her early to mid 20s would be about the same as a 11-15 year old human. By the 30s and 40s, the elf would be about the same as a human in their 20s, but would still be about equal to a mid- to late-20s human for a few hundred years longer. The aging faster at first idea is based on the idea that if the child didn't age fast enough within it's first so many years, it would not be very likely to survive. A baby is very vulnerable in it's first few years of life. The longer that time lasts, the longer the child is vulnerable.Originally posted by Arcane

This is totally, 100% estimation, based solely on what I've read/seen.
Oh, and one of the simplist things I've found for doing lately is to just decide about how old they look(i.e., equal to a mid-20s human, etc) and not worry about the exact elven age.
Again, this is all just the speculation of someone who spends too much time reading.

I'm also interested but I'm unsure what to expect. I did read a big part of the story at the blades but I'm not sure I'm a good enough writer or know enough about the forgotten realms.
I did play BG from start till finish and I'm very interessted in d&d rollplaying. And I thought I knew enough about it till I can to gamebanshee, there I found out I don't know that mutch. And I never did anything like this before, the only thing I wrote is my BotB bio. It'll be good for my english too!
I've got enough free time and I have a idea for a character too.
And if I suck at writing you can always have my character die.
Please let me know what you think.
Here is my BotB bio so you can read my style.
-----------------------
Rob-hin had it all, a nice home, lots of friends and parents who loved him. The farm was doing well and he had everything he wanted.
He was a fine young man back then. Good looks and always friendly to everybody, even strangers. And working on the fields with his dad made him strong.
He didn’t have a care in the world.
But trouble lurked, and in a way least expected.
His friends grew envious. Rob-hin started getting into fights, people thought it was because of his ego. “His father’s money got to him.”, “He thinks he is better than us.” they said. None of this was true.
As years went by, Rob-hin rarely left the farm. Afraid of the people in the village, he dedicated all of his time to the farm. It wasn’t enough though, a feeling inside of him grew. He felt the need to prove himself, to his parents, the villagers but mostly to himself. So he decided to leave. Hardly saying goodby to his parents he left at the break of dawn.
On his travels he met a strange old man, his eyes where small and his skin was a differend colour then his. Rob-hin joined him, carrying his bags for him and helping him any way possible. They rarly spoke but he learned a lot from him. Though the man, named Ijangi, was very old in human years, he was still able to defend himself, in a very strange way. He didn’t use a sword but his walking staff. A rare but wonderous fighting style.
After the demise of Ijangi who died of old age, Rob-hin continued his travels alone. Attracted by rumours of a guild called “Blades of the Banshee” he started looking for this new guild unsertain why.
---------------------
Ps. this is not the character I want to use for this.

@Sailor Saturn: <scratches head> Hmm...have you read the Preludes series of Dragonlance, specifically the book about Tanis's life before he left the elven city? It talks a bit about Lauranthalasa (Laurana). At the age of 40 or 50, I think, she was still in early adolesence.
@Rob-hin: I think your worries are misplaced. You're a pretty good writer, and you'll only get better with practice. But Aegis did mention he wanted to set some sort of limit on the number of participants, so it's his call.
BTW, you mentioned you "read a big part of the story at the blades." Is Athkatla II posted on the Blades of the Banshee site?

I haven't read any of the Dragonlance books. I've only read Forgotten Realms books. From what I've read in this topic or another, unless I've totally lost it(a complete possibility), this RP will take place in Icewind Dale, right? Seeing as how that is in Faerûn, then it seems logical to me that using Forgotten Realms books/background would be more useful in figuring out a character's age. Drizzt was in his early to mid-50s, I believe, when he left Menzobarrenzan, and was a 'young adult'(about equal to an early to mid-20s human) I believe. Again, this is just my speculations based on what I have read. I very well could be wrong.Originally posted by Magus

@Sailor Saturn: I, for one, am going to take your earlier suggestion and omit my character's actual age... But you're right that comparing Dragonlance and the Forgotten Realms can be problematic.
@Arcane: Now I'm totally unsure about elven aging, so I take back my earlier comment about your character's age.

I agree, it's his call. I'm not going to post here "Yeah, I'm in!", all I can do is ask if I can join. Then it's up to you all (or just Aegis ) to decide if you think I'm good enough etc. In other words, you would have to let me in.Originally posted by Magus

Well, the two people I'm hoping will still be prominent contributers is Rail, and Magus. as far as I know, they're in. We also have Craig, Arcane, Nippy, and Rob-hin. Thats gives us six including me. I can handle maybe one of two more.
