word of constriction

I have a terrible feeling that I've missed the word of constriction that closes the nightmare gate... I'm now going through the middle of the first catacomb cellar without hearing anything about it. Have I? Do I need to go back to get it???

Well you've missed it alright. The Word of Constriction can be found in a scroll to the Halls of Light and the Nightmare Gate is located at the Halls of Stone. If you need more info about the word just let me know.

Thanks. I had a feeling I had missed the bus on that one. The worry is I've been right through the Halls of Light once and I've just spent an hour wandering them again without finding the word.

Could you be any more specific about its location - is there a hidden area/secret door?

The room where you find the Word of contriction is a little east from the Rhonglyn room, near the door that needs the Stronghold key.

I missed it... I started the Catacombs, and realized that I'd never closed the Nightmare Gate. There's one room in the Halls of Light In the area where I fought the Cult that my Rogue can't open, and there's an open chest in this room. I'm pretty sure this is the room you mentioned. I'm just wondering how I'm supposed to get in.

The room that contains the word of contriction is just south-west of the Cult Stronghold at area #22 on the map.

Yup, it's gone... I went back to area #22 and the chest was empty. This game has too many qwirks, but until NWN and World of Warcraft come out i'll just put up with this like I have been. If anyone's got any idea where it could be please lemme know.

Well, i did the same and found the scroll and wandered off without thinking and it disappeared.
Thought that was it until I saw the scroll in Nottles inventory to buy, i thought great, bought it and wandered down to the gate.

Stuck

How you you learn the word of constriction or use the scroll?

Ps I'm currently playing with 1 character, cleric/thief/barbarian/fighter and can't seem to learn the word?
Help would be appreciated.

When you pick up a scroll that contains a power word you will automatically learn the word which is written on it. I don't recall if you can put this kind of scrolls in to your inventory, maybe you know the word, that's why the scroll dissapeared. Anyway the word of Constriction just closes the Nightmare gate, is that what are you looking for?

I finally learnt the word and closed the gate

The problem is you only learn the word when you pick it up from the room so when I got it back from Nottle it didn't automatically teach it to me.
I just happened to come down from the Tower of gems and thought i'd try running back in the room the the word was and as soon as I went past the door it triggered and I knew the word finally
