Well, it's not so much that Baptist practice adult baptism as Baptists don't baptize babies. I, myself, was baptized at the age of 7. It's a 'public profession of faith' that you go through after you become a Christian.

As for the SBC, I would agree that they are the most fundamental and conservative church in the US, though Church of Christ would probably be close in the running.

Various easily defined beliefs/values of the SBC:
1.)No Drinking
2.)No Dancing
3.)Cannot be an Ordained Minister of you have been Divorced
4.)King James Version of the Bible is the only true Bible
5.)Wives must submit to their husbands(they leave out the "and husbands love their wives part" when referring to this passage)

This is mostly found in the "traditional" southern baptists who are mostly old and dying out(from old age).

I'm having trouble thinking straight enough to explain anymore at this time. If you have any other questions, though I'd be happen to answer them once my brain starts thinking a bit straighter.

Er...I didn't word that quite right. They can be ordained. It's just, the more traditional churches are likely to not call a person as pastor if they've been divorced.

That's cool. A lot of it depends on the church itself. Sometimes a more traditional church that doesn't like the fact that the guy's been divorced will still hire him if they feel that God wants them to hire him. But it's also something that can cause problems if they don't really like that the guy's been divorced. I've seen the problems it can cause...

well actually i dont even know if the church knows that he was divorced. my dad doesnt always tell the whole truth and normally lets people assume things. some people at the churh think that my dad and my step mom have been married for years and that i am their son. which really sucks because my stepmom is a complete b!tch and i dont want to have anything to do with her. ive had to explain to some people that my dad really isnt really as good on the inside as he is on the outside.

It would be better for the church to know he's divorced before hiring him. The problems it can cause are a lot worse if they find out after hiring him.

So was I. I took the test again and got a slightly different result this morning.

I also had to think long before answering to the question about "Satan".

Satan is the one who's suffering most rather than causing in THIS particular world, I think.

I don't think the test's creators intended it to be taken as a serious measurement of one's personal values or religious beliefs. I see it more as a "Hey, kid, your views as you wrote 'em in ta the test are pretty much like a typical XXXXX, knowwhatImean?" So when I showed up with 100% neo-pagan, I had to laugh. After all, there were at least a good four questions that could have reflected my views just as well had I answered differently, and the priority system depends pretty much on how I felt at the time.

Humans have this weird genetic trait that kicks in whenever they take a test. They believe at once that it's scientifically determined, and the results are definitive.

But we're all mutable, just like our immediate parent, the universe. Our opinions shift a lot more according to mood, recent experience and environment than we normally credit. So if anybody is concerned that they're turning up with a very high Mahayana Buddhist outlook when they were supposed to be ordained this weekend as a Methodist deacon, and is now thinking as a result about selling the house and moving to an ashram...I wouldn't worry.

After you've taken the test, just click on the hotlink in your "score" to take you to a webpage that will give some of the basic tenets of that faith/belief system. Don't expect much detail, but there's also a forum, and some links.
