Movie casting

Post by Moleman »

If a movie "Baldur's Gate" was made, and you would be a casting director, who would you choose to play each NPC? Or enemies?

Here's some choices of mine:

Minsc - John Malkovich (would be a similar role as in "Of Mice and Men")
Nalia - Drew Barrymore
Jaheira - Uma Thurman
Edwin - Robert De Niro
Noober/Neeber - Quentin Tarantino :)

Mom said not to talk to strangers. I asked her what that meant and she said "anyone who looks stranger than your relatives." Except Uncle Sue. I guess. - A boy in Baldur's Gate

Damnit, you stole this idea from me. :)

Minsc: John Malkovich (a blend of Con Air & Of Mice and Men)
Jahiera: Famke Jannesen
Nalia: Cameron Diaz, maybe Thora Birch
Edwin: Al Pachino
Imoen: Alyson Hannigan
Jan: Elija Wood
Valygar: Wil Smith
Anomen: Johnathan Frakes
Keldorn: Ian McKellen

Bodhi: Vanessa Williams
Irenicus: David Warner

And Mr. S: Arnold (for the trailer leading into ToB) :)

Im not sure who I would put in it, but if a Baldurs Gate movie was ever made I would surely crap my pants and dance around like a little school-girl.

Neither did I.

I got from a book store. Waste of $5. It would be a waste of 1 cent. Really.

Imoen and Pheare have a lezbo relationship.  :o

I have to say I doubt your honesty on the lesbian thing Gaxx, especially given your *ahem* thoughts on the matter.

He's being honest... unfortunetly. Image
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Say you're kidding. I just can't imagine sweet, innocent Alyson Hannigan going with Phaere. Now Willow and Tara, that's just common sense. Imoen and Phaere...that's scary.

Seeing as how I've played all the novels, I probably have no reason to buy them. :D

PS: Oh, and Arnold ain't gonna be a Stone Golem. He'll be Mystery Guest #1, a certain someone introduced at the beginning of the Bhaalspawn War. :)

What are these novels you're talking about?
Oh, it doesn't matter, they don't sound good at all.

P.S.: Lou Costello??!?!?

Oh, I'm so glad somebody noticed. :)

Think it more as my reaction to the endless round of dull, bad Hollywood casting that the studios have got everybody here doing. ;) Just my POV, but the only way to truly do a good film version is not to have BIG NAME performing the role of, say, Keldorn or Edwin, but an unknown who 1) doesn't play him/herself, 2) doesn't have a name to distract from the character, and 3) doesn't have a series of preconditioned actions that their fans love, and which they're incapable of rising above.

She is in fact an actress; that's how here career actually started. She was on the classic kids TV show You Can't Do That On Television which was a Canadian (wouldn't you know it!) TV show and was aired heavily on Nickelodeon in the early days of the network. You can see some pictures of her on the show here.

After the show ended in the late 80s, she was a Debbie-Gibsonesque popstar in Canada. You can see some big hair pictures of her here.

She grew out here hair (and stopped washing it, I think), became bitter and disenchanted with life and released Jagged Little Pill in 1995.

She returned to acting and played the non-speaking role of God in the movie Dogma in 1999.

Hey, I'm with you here, Fable.
Less famous actors could do well: in LotR this worked, IMHO.
You love the character, not the actor.

Of course, they NOW are all famous actors.....
