Frames?

Post by Mr Sleep »

@Buck would it be possible to put the ad and report forum hypertexts into a frame. That way the ads would not effect the sub pages, it might also speed up the loading as the static frame features the ads and does not change.

It might also sort out the problem with the broken links and the bugs.

Just a thought.

I don't think frames would be a good idea for a pages like these.
For instance it would be all but imposible to link to certain sites within the forum because it will always link to the frame page.
Plus it is a layout nightmare to take into account different screen resolutions and plus it dosen't look good with scrollbars all over the place :) (IMO)

You can take out scrollbars by adding tags to the frameset. Scrollbar="no" framespacing="0" frameborder="0". you wouldn't even know they were there. ;) :) you can also give specific frame sizes.

Ps your probably right about the linking though ;)

Yeah - I know you can remove the scrollbars, and the borders, and the spacing etc. :D

But still people don't use the same screen resolution and cusomise their browsers.
For instance - I've minimised all my icons, and moved around the statusbars resulting in a bigger screen - and that is something you have to take into account when making frames.

(I must admit I've never made a site without the use of frames, but I hate using them :D )

Frames make web istes look a bit more organized, sometimes, but they're such a nuisance.
